The Canes try to put Wednesday’s suckfest behind them.

RBA has been pretty pointed with his comments since the Flyers game. He came pretty close to throwing the team under the bus. And there was more line mixing at practice yesterday.

Chatfield appears to be the odd man out on the blue line. Expect Raanta in goal.

The Pens had a 5 game winning streak broken on Thursday. The streak dragged them back to relevance in the division, and they’ve climbed above NHL .500, with 16 points in 15 games. The usual suspects are present and accounted for; Crosby (10 goals), Guentzel (13 assists), Malkin, new guy Karlsson and Rust are all averaging at least a point per game. Tristan Jarry has started 12 games in goal, he’s at 2.56/.910. With Ned on an AHL conditioning assignment, Magnus Hellberg is the backup. He’s only started 1 game and made 2 relief appearances and is at 2.50/.922. The Pens are 9th in goals per game and 10th in goals against. For all the offensive talent on the team, the PP isn’t clicking, 23rd at 16.7%. Their PK is 9th.

Black jerseys tonight. Bally Sports South for TV

Lines at the morning skate. No changes from practice. How often will Crosby be jumping over the boards when he sees Orlov and TDA on the ice? Raanta in goal.

Teravainen - Aho - Jarvis
Svechnikov - Kotkaniemi - Necas
Martinook - Staal - Fast
Bunting - Drury - Noesen

Slavin - Burns
Skjei - Pesce
Orlov - DeAngelo

Clearly he pissed on RBA’s or Gleason’s shoes. His biggest shortcoming is that he can’t run a PP.
I think he has a nagging injury keeping him out of the lineup but not serious enough for an IR stint. I was talking to Luke about that in the press room at UNC last night. But, no one is really saying

Tonight’s officials:

Referees:
TJ Luxmore #21, Wes MacCauley #4

Linesmen:
Mitchell Hunt #62, Libor Suchanek #60

Canes were 4-2 with Luxmore and 2-2-1 with McCauley. Pens were 1-4-1 with Luxmore and 4-1 with McCauley.

I hope that's the case...but he still looks like full-throttle Chatfield when he's been on the ice.

Just saw on Twitter that the Canes beat writer for the N&O is covering UNC-Clemson. In South Carolina.

But he hasn’t been on the ice in a week. Could have tweaked something in practice. Could have twisted a pinky toe buying all that great ice cream you guys love.

Is he actually on that beat or does he just cover it from time to time? Because it's impossible to tell.

TDA standing around doing nothing while Crosby gets open right at the far post.
Let’s not forget Aho shooting two sure goal chances straight into a pad and a chest instead of the back of the net a few minutes prior…this team can’t get out of its own way.
