DUCKS (32-10-6) at SHARKS (25-17-6)

TV: NBCSN, SN360

The Latest: The NHL-leading Anaheim Ducks (32-10-6, 70 pts.) conclude a two-game road trip and a four-game stretch vs. Pacific Division teams Thursday against the San Jose Sharks at SAP Center (7 p.m. PST, NBCSN/AM 830). The Ducks recently became the first NHL team to 70 points this season and earlier posted the most wins coming out of an All-Star break in franchise history (31). With six goals allowed in the last five games, the team has won six straight (6-0-0), tied for the longest active win streak in the NHL with Detroit. The club has won eight of its last nine (8-1-0) and has points in 11 of the last 13 (10-2-1, 21 pts.). Anaheim is 23-0-5 when scoring first this season, the lone NHL team without a regulation loss in such situations. The Ducks (16-0-2) also join New Jersey as the only two clubs without a regulation loss when leading after one. With a power-play goal in six of the last seven games, the club is 7-for-20 (35.0%) on the power play and 19-for-21 in penalty kills (90.5%) since Jan. 7. Anaheim has gone 3-0-0 in the first three of four straight games vs. Pacific Division opponents, which the club owns a 11-3-5 record against overall. Thursday's game also begins Anaheim’s ninth set of back-to-back games this season. The Ducks are 9-5-2 in back-to-back games, including 4-2-2 in the opener. Dating to the start of the 2013-14 season, Anaheim is 29-10-5 in back-to-back situations and 16-4-2 in the second game, an NHL best by points percentage (.773). The Ducks, who are playing six of their next eight games on the road, will conclude the back-to-back Friday vs. Chicago at Honda Center (7 p.m. PST).

On a Winning Note: The Ducks are the only NHL team with three winning streaks of six games or longer this season, including Oct. 11-24 (7-0-0), Dec. 1-13 (7-0-0) and Jan. 11-current (6-0-0). Since the start of the 2013-14 season, the Ducks have won at least seven straight on five different occasions, with no other NHL team doing it more than twice (Columbus, Pittsburgh and St. Louis both have two win streaks of seven games or more). There have been 16 total win streaks of seven games or more by NHL teams since the start of the 2013-14 season. The Ducks have posted winning streaks longer than seven games twice in club history, including Dec. 6-28, 2013 (10 games) and Dec. 31, 2013-Jan. 15, 2014 (eight games).

Ducks-Sharks: Anaheim and San Jose conclude a five-game season series Thursday at SAP Center. The Ducks are 55-56-10 all-time vs. the Sharks and own a 27-28-5 road record against their Pacific Division rival. Anaheim is 1-3-0 vs. San Jose this season, earning its first win in a 3-2 overtime decision on Dec. 22 at Honda Center. Ducks captain Ryan Getzlafpaces Anaheim skaters in career scoring vs. San Jose, notching 49 points (10g/39a) in 57 games. Thursday's game wraps up the Ducks’ first season series vs. a Pacific Division opponent in 2014-15.

Ducks team scope: Anaheim has won six in a row following its 4-0 win against the Vancouver Canucks on Tuesday. Anaheim enters Thursday with a three-point lead on the Nashville Predators for the top spot in the Western Conference. After opening the scoring in the shutout victory against Vancouver, Matt Beleskey has six game-winning goals, tied for the NHL lead with Arizona Coyotes defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson. He has a career-high 18 goals in 47 games. GoalieFrederik Andersen tied Bill Durnan, who played for the Montreal Canadiens from 1943-50, for fastest to 47 victories in NHL history (63 decisions). He is 47-11-5 to begin his career after making 17 saves to blank the Canucks.

Sharks team scope: Forward Tyler Kennedy will not play because of a lower-body injury, according to head coach Todd McLellan. Kennedy, who has missed a total of 30 games with various injuries, practiced Tuesday, but he was sore afterward and sat out practice Wednesday. Kennedy has four goals and three assists in 18 games. San Jose is 2-1-1 on its seven-game homestand after defeating the Los Angeles Kings 4-2 on Jan. 21 to end a two-game skid. The Sharks recalled forwards Tomas Hertl, Barclay Goodrow and Mirco Mueller from Worcester of the American Hockey League on Tuesday. Hertl and Goodrow played two AHL games during the All-Star break, and Mueller played three on a conditioning assignment. Joe Pavelski is on a three-game point streak (two goals, two assists) and has four multi-point games in his past 11.
