The Latest: The Pacific Division-leading Anaheim Ducks (42-20-7, 91 pts.) conclude a three-game road trip against the Minnesota Wild tonight at Xcel Energy Center (5 p.m. PDT, Fox Sports West/AM 830). Co-leading the NHL in standings points and tied for second in wins, the Ducks own the second-most wins through 69 games in franchise history, trailing only the 2013-14 club (45-17-7, 97). Anaheim also has the second-most standings points (44) and wins through 34 road games in team history. The Ducks are 7-4-0 in their last 11 games and scored 22 third-period goals in those 11 contests (2.0 per game). Anaheim has the top intra-conference record among Western Conference opponents, posting a 28-9-5 mark for a .726 points percentage. The Ducks rank second among NHL teams in road point percentage (.647) and are tied for second in road victories (20), winning five of the last seven road games (5-2-0). On special teams, Anaheim has killed 26 of the last 31 penalties since Feb. 21 for a 83.9% PK rate. Following tonight's game, the Ducks will open a three-game homestand beginning Sunday vs. Nashville (5 p.m. PDT).
Ducks-Wild: The three-game series between Anaheim and Minnesota wraps up tonight at Xcel Energy Center. The Ducks have won the first two games of the season series, including a 2-1 win on Oct. 17 at Honda Center and a 5-4 victory on Dec. 5 in Minnesota. Anaheim has won seven of the last eight games vs. Minnesota along with a franchise-best five consecutive games at Xcel Energy Center. All-time, the Ducks are 26-17-9 vs. the Wild and 10-9-7 on the road. Corey Perry (17-15=32), Ryan Getzlaf (8-24=32) and Ryan Kesler (24-8=32) co-lead Anaheim players in career scoring vs. the Wild.
Ducks team scope: Anaheim cancelled its scheduled day off Thursday, instead practicing coming off a 6-3 loss to the Calgary Flames on Wednesday. Coach Bruce Boudreau said there is a good chance forward Matt Beleskey (upper body) will return to the lineup. Beleskey has missed about a month and is third on the Ducks with 21 goals. Defenseman Sami Vatanen (lower body), injured Feb. 15 in the same game as Beleskey was, is close to returning, but is not expected to play. Anaheim reassigned defenseman Josh Manson to Norfolk of the American Hockey League; he played 10 games during this recall, with two assists. Anaheim has won its past five games at Minnesota, all by one goal, dating to Oct. 27, 2011.
Wild team scope: Defenseman Marco Scandella did not practice Thursday and remains out of the lineup until likely next week. Forward Kyle Brodziak also missed practice, but coach Mike Yeo said it was a maintenance day and he will be in the lineup. With a game against the St. Louis Blues on Saturday, it's possible goaltender Devan Dubnyk will have his consecutive-games streak end, but Yeo said earlier this week Dubnyk is his preferred choice against the Ducks. The streak stands at 26 games, the longest in the NHL since the 2011-12 season. Minnesota is 1-7-1 against Anaheim in the past nine games.
