GDT | Game #69 | vs Islanders | Saturday, March 21st 2026 7:00 PM EST

Yeah, I was surprised to see anyone questioning the challenge. If it's not a goal, you challenge. Period.
Honestly both feelings are valid. My first reaction is that it was a dick move but at the same time this isn't beer league, you have to challenge non-goals.

Patrick appears to have matured as a coach. There was a time he would have freaked out in the third period. He never lost his composure.

I'm sure he had a planned freakout at least for later or the next day in practice.

You don't want Marty to challenge a goal that you know wasn't a goal? Regardless of the score?
I can pretty much assure that at that point in the game he wouldn't have, and I know that Marty won a Stanley Cup too so he's just as competitive as Roy. Patrick is just an a-hole. The woman he beat up, his ex-wife, would likely confirm that.

No he hasn’t, he’s simply walking on egg shells as he isn’t “Darche’s guy” as he knows it.

It’s pure survival mode right now, and missing the playoffs after your GM gives up a boatload of futures for an invisible Schenn won’t win St.Patrick any browny points…

Emil Heineman is not Bobby McMann. Maybe you are not evaluating Heineman properly either.

Obviously I don't know. Just wondering if there might have been another way to make the deal.

Heino is what he is a nice 20-25 goal top 9 player , thats what BM is

You can find another Heino much easier

what a dumb debate — if it’s a dick move to challenge a goal, then it’s equally a dick move for Zach to score another.

What nonsense.

These guys compete until the horn sounds

Then why do coaches also whine when teams put no 1 power play on late in 3rd up by 4 or more. They call it classless, disrespectful etc. Teams should do fly bys at bench, celebebrate every goal as if it is game 7 OT.

I mean it's bad enough to lose by 4... if you can prevent another one, you do it. It's like saying that a goalie shouldn't try to make saves when the game is out of reach.

Heineman is one of those rare forwards that can play up and down the lineup. Even if showing similar production to Heineman, I think BM is a fourth liner. If he's on your top three lines you have a problem. Like the Leafs. Anyway, I agree with you that the deal was worth making regardless. I just happen to particularly like Heineman.

I wonder how the linesmen miss so many offsides. How many games in the past were decided by offside goals (other than game 6 in 1980 Final)

they're missing offsides by half an inch....pretty sure they let them go if that's close

Hockey is probably the hardest sport to officiate, because it’s the fastest of the top 5 sports in North America. Guys are flying on the ice, turning on a dime….human eyes cannot see the puckhandler and his linemates at the same time.

I give them a pass on offsides…..but penalties they gotta get….those are no-brainers

There needs to be a review process. They don’t use it so that they can game manage but there should be a review for egregious misses.

fourth liners dont score 20 plus a year

Your in good shape if BM is in your top 9 , he would be fourth in goals
