Carolina takes their popgun offense to the Canadian plains to face off against the Winnipeg Jets tonight before returning to NC for consecutive home games for only the 3rd time all season. Both teams sit solidly in the playoff picture, but while the Canes are starting to look very frustrated, the Jets have been a bit of a pleasant surprise after a rough 21-22 season. Neither team has been scoring a ton, so buckle in for a bit of a tactical battle of conflicting systems. The Jets are more of a trap and transition team while the Canes bring the pressure much higher up the ice. No morning info yet, but you'd assume Carolina will stick to their goaltending rotation while the Jets have no reason not to keep riding the resurgent Connor Hellebuyck who is back on Vezina finalist form after a couple of rough years. Both teams last played on Saturday so this one "normal" in terms of relative rest.

Just a vote of no confidence really. Am stuck at Duke hospital (outpatient for Dad.) I expect us to play on 1 or 2 cylinders of a V6

Hellebuyck "did not do his usual game day routine" per one of the reporters on Twitter whose name I already forgot.

Walt Ruff says it looks like Koochie in goal again.
We're getting to the point where that makes sense. Raanta hasn't been terrible by any means, but he's been average ... behind what remains a very good team defense. That Colorado game is a pretty good example. The Avs had 3 or 4 decent chances in regulation and he stopped half of them ... giving up a goal on a bang-bang chance off of a turnover where he was slow to react and an absolutely pedestrian breakaway move by Kerfoot. Until they find something to wake up the scoring*, maybe go with the guy who's most likely to stand on his head on a given night. Right now, that's the kid.

*they're in Winnipeg with all the open space in the world. Maybe go sacrifice a live rooster in a field or find a wandering mystic or something.

Dubois for the Jet's lead..
And a Power play to end the period... (it will continue for most of 90)

Maybe we were spoiled from the past couple of years when this team was dominant but this year this Canes team is just flat…just not impressed most nights with the overall look and feel, something is missing.

Winnipeg crowds are always lame. They all look like they are at funeral instead of a hockey game. Packed building and it’s completely quiet
