GDT | I’m not home not watching we need a thread

I'm not saying he can't pass. I'm saying he's not some passing superstar. He's a bottom pairing guy with a bit of offensive skill, that's all.

He's pretty crap on the PP though since he's just not quick enough.
I meant d btw. Of course Marner is a better passer. I don't see any leafs d threading needles as well as him. Not even close. Not debatable for me. That's what makes him valuable on this particular d corps as a 5/6 over one of their slugs.

I mean, I try to pretend the slugs don't exist. But I'll take Rielly and Lilly over him offensively any day.

And I think McCabe is better in some ways, skating in particular, hitting, and his passing isn't all that much worse. Timmins is better offensively, and has a higher IQ, but the lack of speed is a killer.

Timmins has played a grand total of 87 NHL games at age 25. He's still figuring things out, but a nice player for your bottom pair and maybe PP2 duties in the future.

Yeah, "gets points here and there" is kind of a wild thing to say about him, he's a consistent generator of offence from the blueline.

5v5 Assists/60 over the last two seasons:

Domi: 2.13
Marner: 1.84
Nylander: 1.36
Matthews: 1.25
Timmins: 1.22
Tavares: 1.2
Bunting: 1.19
Holmberg: 1.17

Just our D:

Timmins: 1.22
Rielly: 1.01
Gio: .82
McCabe: .8
Brodie: .73
Holl: .68
Lilly: .61
Sandin: .6
Benoit: .29

also "sucks on the PP" is a hell of take that isn't at all entirely based on Timmins getting thrown on the PP1 last night and not looking good.

Timmins leads all of our defenders in the last 2 seasons in P/60 on the powerplay. Every time we've tried someone else on the PP1 because changing Rielly was the only idea our coach ever had until mid way through this season, they produce significantly worse than Rielly. Timmins is the only guy who has actually achieved it, but he's never the guy who we replace Rielly with on PP1.

The skating is ugly and hard to look beyond, but Timmins is just effective. I don't think he's more than a bottom pairing can crusher, but he's a really, really good can crusher down there.

..and a coveted "righty".

Also not a midget. 6'2 210 is decent size and he's not physical, but he's not soft either. A lot of bottom pairing offensively oriented can crushers are like 5'10 180. Your Gostisbehere type guys.
