The Canes get the first crack at closing out the series.

Yesterday morning, RBA said he’d have an update on Andersen in the afternoon. The afternoon came and went and it’s been radio silence. They’re skating this morning so maybe we’ll hear something after. The other lookout is whether the lines remain as they were or Roslovic re-enters the lineup.

The Devils will again be missing half their defensive core with Hughes, Dillon and Kovacevic all out. They didn’t practice yesterday either, so there should be a skate after the Canes finish. Amanda Stein didn’t travel with the team, so we won’t have her handwritten lineups.

FanDuel and TBS for TV. Kenny Albert, Brian Boucher and Jody Shelley are on the call for the latter.

There's only so many changes the Devils can make given their lack of a bench at this point. I guess the issue would be whether or not they throw caution to the wind and dress their two more offensive minded defenders ... Nemec and Casey ... and then hope that Pesce, Domoulin and Siegenthaler can figure out how to hold down the actual defensive part of the gig. Because up front it's just a matter of how to set the top 6. The bottom six has the whiff of yard sale no matter what you do from here.

That said, Carolina's focus will be the same as the first two games. Get Staal on the most dangerous line, hand the other to Aho and let your third and fourth lines cook. With Kochetkov in net, they probably will want to be a little soft on the pinches from the D just to limit cherry picking opportunities heading the other way. Then again, Kooch generally plays better when he has something to do so maybe they just go full tilt to start with and figure it out on the fly.

Either way, I'd love to get this closed out tonight for all sorts of reasons.

The building will be electric tonight, tailgating for this crew starts at 3 today under those beautiful Carolina blue skies!!! The Beer is chilling, the truck is packed and the clinch vibes are strong!!! LFG!!!

Borrowing that oldie but a goodie clip from the Canes-Devils playoffs series of the Jussi Jokinen era...Damn the Devil to Hell!!!

Per Walt, it looks like the same lineup as Sunday, with Jost and Roslovic as the extras. But Jarvis slides back to his two dads, where he finished on Sunday.

Svechnikov - Aho - Blake
Hall - Kotkaniemi - Carrier
Martinook - Staal - Jarvis
Robinson - Jankowski - Stankoven

Slavin - Burns
Orlov - Chatfield
Gostisbehere - Walker
Nikishin - Stillman

Glad to see Jankowski in. Didn't think Stankoven was as good on the 4th line, but the line overall played great.

Will be there early for a little tailgating on a beautiful Carolina day. Do a little drink, make a little meal, get done tonight!

There is either some trouble in Devilsland or Keefe is playing mind games. Neither Pesce or Siegenthaler skated this morning and are game time decisions.

Palat – Hischier – Meier
Haula – Mercer – Bratt
Cotter – Glass – Noesen
Tatar – Dowling – Bastian

Cholowski – Hamilton
Dumoulin – White
Casey – Nemec

The only way Pesce doesn’t play is if he’s still recovering from an amputation. Or dead.

Siegenthaler is different though, he just came back from an injury that kept him out for 2+ months. It could be legit.

Or since he's just coming back (maybe too soon because of the other injuries), they'd prefer to save him for games... we'll see

Today’s officials:

Referees:
Pierre Lambert #25, Gord Dwyer #19

Linesmen:
Ryan Gibbons #58, Tyson Baker #88

Standby officials: Wes McCauley #4, Julien Fournier #56

Series Supervisor: Shane Heyer

The Canes were 2-2 with Lambert and 1-1 with Dwyer. For whatever reason, the Canes haven’t seen Dwyer much, he’s only worked 7 games in the last 3 years. The Devils had him 13 times.

Boy, if they actually go with that lineup poor Brian Dumoulin will end up with 40 minutes. And yes, that's Colton White ... and no, I don't really remember him either. Former Devils prospect who spent a lost year in Anaheim before coming back on a cheapie deal.
