Have to factor in that he knows the system, is likely good in the room and listens to everything Marty says. Why go out and get an unknown to replace?
A good signing and brings energy and some grit on the cheap , decent fourth liner to have around

For once its own development pick

There are ways to make room under the cap before the roster is set & you can put Price on the LTIR.

I fully expect Hoffman to be bought out and I expect one of Edmundsson and/or Dvorak to be traded at some point this summer. If all three happen, that's $10M freed up (assuming we don't get any salary in return for the trades).

Pitlick's probably AHL-bound. You could assign all our ELC players (Slaf, Guhle, Farrell, Barron, Xhekaj) to Laval for all of 5 minutes to reduce the caphit and call them up right after.

I'm not worried. There are ways to create capspace, while re-signing RHP & maybe signing a UFA.

Dufour please
I don't think it's realistic to get real prospects in return for bad contracts, unless it's a Darnell Nurse, Jack Campbell, Rasmus Ristolainen type of albatross contract. I think it's much more realistic to get draft picks.

Prospects on ELCs have become the most over-valued and over-rated assets in hockey because if they hit, they're among the most valuable things in the NHL.

A 40 point (or more?) player at $1M caphit? Worth their weight in gold and then some.

One more reason for not rushing prospects to the NHL.

Yup , but its nice to turn those Bunting`s into 2 good years and dumping them when they need to get paid

How does that work ?

He was 5 foot nothing and a hundred and nothing but played with an edge just like his older brother. He was a better all around player than Maurice as well, although the Rocket was a more prolific goal scorer.
