What he sayJordan Harris decided to wade into the Provorov debate.
What he say
basically just that NHL says hockey is for everyone but Provorov and Rangers show it isn'tWhat he say
That’s a pretty fascistic-like comment, I have to say. Let’s aim for some more inclusivity.it's not for people who can't skate, that's for sure (I tried)
Exactlyit's not for people who can't skate, that's for sure (I tried)
So even less of an excuse.Patrice was in his 3rd season
And he is 100% right in his assessment.basically just that NHL says hockey is for everyone but Provorov and Rangers show it isn't
Provorov opts out of being inclusive, ostensibly because the religion he adheres to is the same one that says Ukraine has no right to exist because it has Pride parades. Then the Rangers pussy out and don't even use the Pride warm-up jerseys only to have Bettman declare that it was a successful Pride Night. Harris was spot-on. The NHL's "hockey is for everyone" PR campaign rings even hollower than Bell's "Let's Talk" campaign.Harris comes from a biracial family in very liberal Boston. Given that, his comments really aren’t that surprising. But I don’t see how they’re accurate.

when was the last time you went to a Pride Parade or wore a rainbow shirt (remembering you called Jason Kenney and Lindsay Graham light on their feet)Provorov opts out of being inclusive, ostensibly because the religion he adheres to is the same one that says Ukraine has no right to exist because it has Pride parades. Bro, there’s no need to require people to “celebrate” any sexual orientation. We all get “live and let live.” That should be sufficient.Provorov opts out of being inclusive, ostensibly because the religion he adheres to is the same one that says Ukraine has no right to exist because it has Pride parades. I'm not shaming those two for being gay, I'm shaming them for pretending to not be gay and for supporting anti-gay legislation. Their hypocrisy is what offends me, not the fact that they are gay.when was the last time you went to a Pride Parade or wore a rainbow shirt (remembering you called Jason Kenney and Lindsay Graham light on their feet)
Wearing a warm-up jersey with rainbow colored numbers isn't celebrating a sexual orientation. The campaign by the league is that "hockey is for everyone". It can't become "Hockey is for everyone unless you're Ivan Provorov who thinks you should be killed if you're gay."Bro, there’s no need to require people to “celebrate” any sexual orientation. But they are expected to celebrate the military and wear camouflage warm-up jerseys and not kneel for the anthem because "shut up and dribble"?Bro, there’s no need to require people to “celebrate” any sexual orientation. We all get “live and let live.” That should be sufficient.
YUPBut they are expected to celebrate the military and wear camouflage warm-up jerseys and not kneel for the anthem because "shut up and dribble"?
It seems to me that the people who are saying that Provorov should be able to do or not do whatever he wants are the same ones who's heads would explode if a player refused to participate in a salute to the military or the cops or chose not to stand for the anthem. They're very selective about how they feel people should express their opinions and which people should get a pass and which shouldn't.
If I was NHL Commish, every team in the league would have a Ukrainian flag patch on their uniforms and any Russkie player who didn't like it could fuck off back to Russia. At some point you have to decide what you stand for and no, you can't just ignore or both sides the invasion of the Ukraine. The Russians are the bad guys, full stop, and if I'm running the NHL that country is cut off until it learns how to play nice in the sandbox.
It's a good thing that Jackie Robinson integrated baseball back in the 40's because if he were doing that today and Mike Trout decided he wasn't down with it MLB would just cave and say "Oh well, I guess baseball isn't ready".
