Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

You have no fucking clue about modern day values. You're stuck in 2006.

PLD will get $8m. Maybe more.

He's still RFA, maybe you can get him a bit less with a long term deal but once UFA in a couple years? He's getting it.

Your fucken drunk or on SHROOMS if you hand PLD 8 fucken mil

Your going to have a Horvat WTF did we do event in a few years or as Lou said right after , " too much money and too much term "

Let some other stupid team give it to him and cry when he gets 55 points a year

Would you rather have three very good centers maybe bordering elite for 24m or two guys at the top at 12 and the third guy 4?

door #2 but hard to find one 12M centre, let alone 2

to be honest, I'm not sure that in this hypothetical scenario that one of PLD and Dach doesn't shift to the wing. you want your best players together and I have a hard time seeing Suzuki topping out as our 7 best forward

Dach is a center. He was showing that before his mysterious illness. You can do that but I don't think it's the right fit for him.

If you look at teams with elite players, their top two centers make north of 20m or pretty darn close. I would rather get the same, or close to, production out of the top 3 as they do out of theirs.

Clubs that top heavy their two top centers have very very average third line guys. I would try to create three interchangeable first lines (albeit not top in the league type lines) that you can move players up and down as needed. Hard to replace McDavid if he goes down.

If a top line scores 150 goals
Second scores 100
Third scores 50

What's the difference if you get three lines doing 100 goals each? End result the same and you have improved flexibility.

I would build my team with three very good offensive lines and the fourth line would be the energy/checking/ they need a breather line. 10 minutes toi a game.

Door #2 , 7 days a week if they are elite in the Nate/Leon /Sid level of play

Habs need a 1C to drop Nick or Dach down to 2

PLD isnt that player and never will be

250 goals from your top 9 requires having close to 9 30 goal scorers on average ....not happening
