Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Can the habs make the playoffs next year?

Slaf - Suzuki - Caufield
Hoffman - Dach - Anderson
Armia - Dvorak - Gallaher
RHP - Evans - Farrell

Pezetta - Beck/Kidney - Roy/Ylonen

Mattheson - Guhle
Edmundson - Savard
Wifi - Barron

Harris - Widemen

Monty/Allen

So where are the improvements coming from?
Fanteilli or Bedard would slot in obviously - but other than that there is no draft help coming.
Free agents - I could see a show me deal with Monahan - or but other than some depth moves there is not much there

So trades - I still think we are better off looking to deal Eddy and/or Hoffman than trying to trade youth/picks for better vets. However I think a potential trade like Petry/Mattheson makes sense - maybe Anderson and something for a better winger? I doubt the chance at another Dach type deal is there but that is what should be explored the most. Perhaps there is a Laffy type that would work.

I do not think they will intentionally tank - or do any Monahan type deals this time around - but I also do not see where much improvement comes unless they win the lotto - then I would start moving future pieces for young or just to NHL pieces.

you just made Count cry...happy?

There needs to be, at the bare minimum, one trade made for our defensemen.

We've got Guhle, Matheson, Edmundson, Harris & Xhekaj that should be playing on the left. Too many bodies, not enough slots.

Edmundsson is the logical player to trade, and I think Xhekaj's proven that he's good enough to be an NHL regular.

That said, if we're able to trade Harris for a a return similar to what Romanov got, I'd be all over that.

where did I ever say we would make the post season? I expect management to do what it has to to try and make it.

We went up 13 points this year despite a league record 751 man games lost to injury.

We probably get to .500 if we have 200 man games lost next year.

Habsy just needs to ban the word tank and suspend anyone who whines about meaningless wins.

And as mentioned, this team still ain't great. As constructed, it's not nearly as bad as the Chicago/Columbus/Anaheim teams, but they're not a real threat to make the playoff either.

Shed contracts, trade for futures, keep building, and most importantly, don't skip steps.

Injury total is high but skewed as Price and Byron were never going to play

Move Eddy and Savard and keep Kovacevic on the cheap

Try to unload Hoffman and Dvorak

Exactly , fuck trying to patch for a few extra wins

Every move is about the future and nothing else

Team is heading to second base and the rebuild is going very well with some nice pieces to work with

Previous years had no light at the end of tunnel

Habs are well positioned as several teams are fading in the conference , dont fuck it up
