Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

So that kinda bugs me. Why Reinbacher?
Because he was BPA on their list @ 5OA?

Aaron Ward said he knows at least 3-teams that had Orville Redenbacher @ 2OA on their list… I’m assuming one was Canes because he seems to be quite connected with them

I’m more convinced then ever the scouts “eye test” & Adam Nicholas’ technique evaluation was corroborated by Chris Boucher’s analytics

Does Ward realize the NHL has 32 teams, so it looks like 29 did not have him at no. 2? I’m really questioning if it’s worthwhile still being a fan if this team.

I agree.
You can go be a Bruins fan for a bit. Tell us how that works out.

You can blame the bloated analyticals for this pick. Ward (who also works for an analytics company), was talking about how a slug like Gudas gets high marks, supposedly because attackers overall approach him with one of the slowest average speeds in the league. Why? He has very good gap control and he is a bit of a psycho, the fear factor. So ya , they keep stats for everything and shutdown D men are been treated like royalty.

Reinbacher has the gap control but no physical edge that inspires any kind of fear — but his Austrian coach suggested he might improve in that regard

Yeah, I don’t get the people who put him on the fourth line or suggest he should be in Laval.
He is a competitor. He’s a winner, and he’s a clutch player. He may be small, but my guess is that some of the small guys like Caufield and Suzuki have gone a lot further in the playoffs then big guys like Auston Matthews.

Size and skill on both. They say it takes 250 goals on a team to make the playoffs.

I think I’m guesstimating low on some and high on others but I’m not too far out to lunch on some of these numbers - IF THEY ARE EVEN REMOTELY MORE HEALTHY, this team is in the hunt for a wildcard spot.
