Definitely, I met my wife in July, proposed in February and married that August. 36 years later still going strong.A year and a half is usually more than enough time to figure it out, especially if you live in the same place.

You can spend an entire lifetime with someone and keep learning things about them… there’s no set timeline.I'm not sure marrying someone after only dating for a year & a half is a good idea, but hey, good for him.
You do know that does cut both ways, right? You can spend an entire lifetime with someone and keep learning things about them… there’s no set timeline.
I'm just curious, why do you think 1.5 yrs., living in in the same place, is not enough time? You do know that does cut both ways, right?
Couple will bond very well in a year when he goes on LTIR for 3 yearsMaybe I'm a little too analytical, and not a believer in marriage to begin with, but being convinced that someone you've been seeing for a year a half (not living with, seeing) is your life partner, without a shadow of a doubt? Yeah, I'm not sure.
For some, like in habs59's case, it works out and good on them if it does. However, more often than not, people usually get married too quickly and the soaring high divorce rates seem to back that up.
On top of that, based on the nature of Gallagher's profession, I doubt they spend as much time together as a regular couple does.
There's usually some doubt, even if very small, no matter how long you've been married to someone. Most of us can live with that. But I undertsand that not everyone can or wants to.Maybe I'm a little too analytical, and not a believer in marriage to begin with, but being convinced that someone you've been seeing for a year a half (not living with, seeing) is your life partner, without a shadow of a doubt? And there's no way to know if the soaring divorce rate is related to getting married "too quickly." I believe that most studies that have been done on the subject suggest that the single biggest cause of marital strife, which I assume often least to divorce, is finances. Count does family law, I'm sure he has a view on this too.
If you're a hockey player, the key to happiness is to bang puck bunnies but not marry them. Same thing for rock stars. Bang the groupies but don't marry them. Marry a woman who doesn't know and/or doesn't care about your fame or your money. This is especially important for athletes who would otherwise be pumping gas or flipping burgers for a living if not for their physical abilities. You only make big money while you're playing. Once your career is over you have to live off that money for more than half your life. It's not necessarily as much as it looks and it's not like being a hedge fund manager who will make big money every year until their mid-60's.I remember Mats Sundin waited until after retirement to get married….
Everyone does things differently…
These guys are already set for life….so they don’t see the need to “wait until they are financially stable” to start a family
Yeah, especially getting caught having sex with people you aren't married to.finances, sex, children
I would put ...too easy to walk away as another reasonfinances, sex, children
no one divorces easily, it usually takes yrs to get to the decisionI would put ...too easy to walk away as another reason
If your loaded your set with alimony , child support etc... cha ching for years
