Will flipping Petry tomorrow change anything? Don’t see how it’s related? And result in Reinbacher not being rushed to the NHL,
Exactly , if it gets a better deal do itWhy not?
Or…. allows for Mailloux, etc to develop in Laval.Log jam at D though
I don't think he's long for Montreal reallyOr…. allows for Mailloux, etc to develop in Laval.
If Petry stays to start the season, wonder what that means for Barron?
Could he be the player they package w Dvorak or another player for a targeted young player?
If Barron plays better D he is exactly what you wantI don't think he's long for Montreal really
Because Hughes doesn't want to?Why not?
With Petry, 2 of Barron, Harris or Xhekaj are going down, unless they waive Wideman, but I think they'll defer that for later. Barron is almost certainly going down in that scenario.Log jam at D though
But for San Jose, that $10M of cap space is virtually irrelevant. They're a team that's going to be in the draft lottery for 2-3 more years, they aren't going to have a competitive team. They mostly got 10M of cap space for the next 4 years, but yes, it’s a very underwhelming return but Pittsburgh was essentially the only team interested.
Cap space is never irrelevant, it’s one of the most valuable commodity in the NHL.But for San Jose, that $10M of cap space is virtually irrelevant. They're a team that's going to be in the draft lottery for 2-3 more years, they aren't going to have a competitive team.
If they were, say, Minnesota? That's a different story.
They have ten million worth of bad contracts to take on in exchange for draft picks as a deal facilitator.Cap space is never irrelevant, it’s one of the most valuable commodity in the NHL.
you can't keep eating salaryWhy not?
...For contending teams. For teams in the bottom of the league, beyond taking on bad contracts from other teams, they don't care about cap space.Cap space is never irrelevant, it’s one of the most valuable commodity in the NHL.

San Jose cared so little for capspace that they acquired 3 bad contracts from the deal, all three combine to more than what Karlsson made & they're holding on to $1.53M of Karlsson's deal, to allow themselves to receive a first round pick.
Grier fucked up royally
How the hell do you trade a Norris winner and first ballot HOF and not get back a legit piece for the future
Pitt traded 2 aging bad contracts , Habs traded junk and SJS gets back nothing but some cap down the road and a maybe draft pick
Sharks should of eaten 4 mil and made a much better hockey trade
