One note of interest from today’s presser: Hughes plans to have Price on the roster this off season and will only LTIR him during the season… I suppose he will then use that space to absorb bad contracts for futures

To get there, Hughes will have to get creative rather quickly

So if price is on LTIR to start the season we can't use that space but if he is on the roster and then put on LTIR we can?

Then he's not on the team to LTIR.

It's just paperwork but it's to deter abuse even though easily circumvented.

Habs cleared enough cap space to absorb Price to start the season and be compliant

They may need to send a few yutes to the AHL for a week and bring them back

If they put him on off season LTIR they would be screwed and not able to use his cap during the season

You cant accrue cap space to full season LTIR like you can with returnees like TB who were 18 mil over the cap

Habs can utilize the cap to pull off another Monahan trade but when you stink using his full 10.5 mil may not make sense
