Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

I still believe in Farrell, but he's been wasting his time at Harvard instead of playing hockey.

One of the knocks against Mailloux has been that he hasn't played enough games since being drafted (92 games). Meanwhile, Farrell, who was drafted one year before him and hasn't been suspended or had any major injuries, has played 125 games.

Both of them need to play and they need to play a lot.

I mean, Slaf hasn't been great but he'll probably make the team because reasons. Reinbacher wasn't making the team no matter what. Mailloux's too raw to be in the NHL, he's missed too much time since being drafted. Hutson's in college.

Those are our four best prospects. The only one who had a real chance of making the team is Slaf, and if he wasn't in the NHL last year, he probably wouldn't be in the running if it was just based on meritocracy. The rest of our prospects are the same type of prospects that every team has. Yeah,

Farrel's the one who disappointed me the most. He looked exactly the same as he did in the handful of games he played with us last year: completely invisible. I was hoping that a full summer of training and having gotten a taste of the NHL's speed, he'd be ready to at least show some flashes. Nothing.

When Anderson hit the post/crossbar against NJ, he had been set up by Slafkovsky who dominated the boards and made a smart, quick pass. He still has a lot to learn, the raw material is definitely there.
He needs to be the play driver and isn't fast enough for Newhook / Anderson. I don't see that line working.

Tool box is there to be a solid player

Hughes took 3 years , Slaf will need the same

I guess you guys missed Jeff Gorton’s interview with La Presse last week. He was very clear that Slaf will be with the Habs all season . . . And that fans will need to be patient with him and with his development.
