Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Hab fans will need some hope — if it’s not wins it’ll have to be getting their hands on a clear cut potential forward superstar, which we have yet to do despite drafting #1 and #5.

I think, with certain exceptions, Habsfans are patient. More specifically, they're willing to be patient if a rebuild is done correctly.

Who isn't patient, however, are many of the old dinosaurs in the media. There were plenty of them that said before last year's draft, alright cool, now we can start trying to make the playoffs!

CH1 is also right: You can't keep getting top-5 picks and coming out with disappointing players. End result has to be, we need to get an elite talent in some of them or at the very least, players that might not be worth the selection spot, but carve out good and long careers with us. You can't have more Galchenyuk/Kotkaniemi picks where they're playing hockey in their mid-20s elsewhere.

Right now, we only have one elite talent in the whole organization: Cole Caufield. There needs to be at least 1-2 more years of tanking, get one of Celibrini/Eiserman and one of Misa/Hagens in 2025, now we're talking.

Bingo

Habs will never have the the terrible attendance of some USA cities if they are a shit team

If this crap continues for a few more years you will have some drop in attendance and less fans filling up bars and restaurants downtown

Not sure how media outlets and TV revenue get affected with contracts
Cord cutters are a bigger threat to broadcast revenues than a losing team.

Habs fans patience is limited. After one or two more years of finishing in the basement (a very likely scenario), knives will be out.
Yes the so-called knives will be out but the Habs won't sell one fewer ticket than they're selling right now, even with annual price increases. They are bullet-proof as a product. A coach or a GM might get fired but the organization will still be making stupid money. Nothing really changes unless or until the owners start losing money or stop increasing their profits year over year.

Thats only the few french knobs in the media

Hugo will simply ignore the shit
Exactly and that's also why the French media preferred Roy as GM instead of Hughes because they can get into Roy's head and they know that under him the front office will leak like a sieve. Hughes isn't a ti-gars so they have no connection to him, no "in's", no scoops. And they know that he doesn't give a damn what they think nor is he the least bit influenced by what they say and write.

Having HuGo means the francophone media jackals have no power or influence over what happens.

my only problem with Reinbacher pick is that solid d-men ++ are routinely drafted out of the top 10. We had Weber, Subban ourselves
and recent Norris Trophys have been handed to

Karlsson (15th)
Makar (4th)
Fox (66th)
Josi (38th)
Giordano (not drafted)
