Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

I would trade him asap.

I think Mone pants will be resigned.

At least I hope so.

He'll be our version of Dr Recci acting as a mentor to CC, Motorbike and the others. Get a draft pick by taking on a bad contract at the deadline. Weaponize cap space.

Also?

Keep 11

If he continues to play as he has, the overpayment won't be as terrible as we once perceived.

Buy out his last year, then hire him as some sort of player dev / coaching role. Keep him with the team as long as we can. He's a fucking lion.
Money pants on a cheap short term deal. Sure but if he isn't interested in that trade him.

Gallagher we have no choice but to keep. Nobody is taking that.

I want to see Monahan signed for six at six.

If he would.

Good for him.
Great for us.
Front load the contract and buy out the last two years....

Way overpaid

Would you swap Gallagher for Campbell in a deal involving Allen and picks/prospects?

Yes. Gallaghers contract is worse (same years left but 1.5 higher cap hit) . But the cap doesn't work for the Oilers. Would need to take some more money from Oilers.

8 years at 10.5 vs 4 years at 6.5

I'm thinking the Flames would love to get rid of the Huberdeau contract right now.
I don't think so. The embarrassment alone will prevent it. There would be more going to the flames and I don't think Hubie is worth more than Gallagher and a second at this point. With that contract I mean.

My feeling is that HuGo has worked pretty hard cleaning up our cap space and will not muck it up beyond the short term.

HuGo will soon want to use cap space to add talent to our team; not burying other teams’ mistakes

I'd keep Moneyhands only if the deadline trade offers were underwhelming

But they should be great --- he's on a 76 point pace winning 61% of his draws
