Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

unfortunately Hutson doesn’t have Quinn Hughes’ elite wheels - until he can prove he possesses the ability to navigate & manage his lack of size factor in the NHL… he is a marginal prospect

LOL. Have you ever seen Hutson play in person? He's not the super-fluid skater that Quinn Hughes is but Hutson is pretty fast. He's not a marginal prospect in the least. You're out in left field here.

Spurgeon and Samuel Girard are not great skaters on a smaller frame

Hutson has an elite IQ and processes the game better than most prospects

Strength is my biggest issue , needs to fill out to 170 pounds IMO

I don't think he's long for the Habs but they better get decent value for him.
I dont think he is worth that much

I can see Hugo making a move for a reclamation project in the 21-23 year old range

Harris should have a nice 10 year career on the third pair in this league

Yes - he’s actually a very avg skater backwards. Only saying it’s a bit premature to anoint him a star player, because those types usually have - pre established NHL elite skill - skating, size, shooting etc.

Hutson’s elite skill is IQ, but that needs to proven at NHL level and shown to overcome the lack of size & elite skating - anyway you cut it Hutson is not an elite NHL skater

why do we have to compare him to Quimton Hughes who was 7th overall? Hutson was 2nd rd?

then why do you want to trade 1/2 the team for marginal prospects?
I'm not saying we should trade Hutson. But don't be shocked if he can't do half the things he's doing now when he gets to the bigs. You can say that Caufield has defied the odds but he isn't a defenseman. I will be very interested to see how a guy as small as Hutson is going to manage.
