To a conservative, small gestures are literal communism. Step One for any group attempting to turn a democracy into a fascist dictatorship is to destroy the people's natural tendency for expressing empathy. Because before they can disappear all the undesirables they first have to ensure that everyone else has stopped caring about what happens to them. Before any Jew in Germany was put into a boxcar they were first dehumanized for a period of years as an official policy of the government. So by the time the trains rolled into the station people didn't view them as anything worth trying to save. The people crusading against all things "woke" because they fancy themselves as contrarian freedom fighters are simply helping the fascists desensitize people to injustice.

When a team or an entire league essentially cancels Pride celebrations because of a few Russian homophobes or right wing Christofascists they are telling every LGBTQ+ person out there not to bother with being a fan because they aren't welcome and that their product is not for everyone.

Reminds me of how and your guru Olbermann spoke about those who exercised personal autonomy and chose not to take a wuhan vaccine. You dehumanized them, and wanted them excluded from society (like jews in 1930s Germany).

The implication from many here is that if a team doesn't do a night, they are telling whichever community they aren't wanted. That is not the case but that narrative has been prevalent.

If I had my way there would be no nights for anything. I go to games to watch a game, to escape political stuff, but I also know that war was lost years ago so they are what they are.

Just don't tell me they are anything more than virtue signalling to try and ensure X SJWs like wehave and Olbermann don't do hashtag campaigns to destroy brands and players who don't meet the appropriate level of righteousness (levels which change daily).

They were hazardous to the health of their fellow citizens. No one was stopped from exercising their personal autonomy but they were not free from the consequences of their poor choices, nor should they have been. You want to be a dumbass and not get vaccinated? Go be a dumbass somewhere else.

And no, NOT AT ALL like Jews in 1930's Germany. Jews have no control over the circumstances of their own existence. If they're born Jewish then they're Jewish and they can't do anything about it. But the unvaxxed are unvaxxed BY CHOICE. They CHOSE to make themselves social pariahs then they whined about being "persecuted" when, in fact, they only got what they asked for. They deserve neither sympathy nor mercy.

I'm willing to chuck Pride Night into the dustbin of history just as soon as all official tributes to the military industrial complex and law enforcement are also discontinued. No more camouflage warmup jerseys, no more grunts or cops trooping the colors, no more fly pasts over the stadium. If Pride celebrations are bullshit, virtue signaling displays then ALL special interest celebrations are bullshit, virtue signaling displays.

They were only put there to create a sense of patriotism at around the time of the first world war. This is 100 year tradition that we don’t need to continue.

Yeah the ads aren't going anywhere because money always wins. Getting rid of the anthems actually saves a bit of money and, most importantly, time. If game time is 7pm I'd like to see the puck dropped by no later than 7:05 at most. Drop the fucking thing and get on with it. I gotta work tomorrow.
