Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

He’s still has a lot of room for improvement, but I’m far more concerned about people like Armia, Kovacevic and Ylonen (who is a dud). Pezzetta doesn’t belong in the league.

I wouldn't be too concerned about any of them as none, except for possibly Ylonen, will still be here when the team is ready to compete. The fact that Jake Allen continues to get starts in goal is all I need to know that HuGo don't care at all about winning this year (as they shouldn't). You should look at this season the same way. It'll help you get through it easier.

I don't think any of those four are real NHLers on contending or even middling teams.

Armia's frustrating because he shows flashes that he still has it, but...

Ylonen is basically just a cardio hockey player. Doesn't do much of anything that ever has an impact on the game, but he's good at skating around and taking up time so the top-6 players can get a little bit of rest.

We’ll that kinda the point. The concern is that they are on the roster to begin with - this is my “concern”. Barron, for all his faults, has NHL attributes. He can do stuff and can still be coached up.

The same was true for Armia, but he hasn’t realized his potential and now he’s lumbering lamely to contract expiry or buy out. It’s up to Barron to avoid that fate.

They are all junk and the dumpster truck is a year away or sooner

Even “good” teams have players like Ylonen in their bottom six forward group. He’s also good in shootouts.
