Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Wonder if we can get a first for Savard. In 2021 Tampa gave up a 1st, a 3rd and 4th to get Savard at 1.1 mil roughly. Colombus retained half and Detroit retained 1/4.

He's pretty much the same player he was, and they get him presumably at 1.6 mil for this year and next if we take half his salary.

Matheson we should keep unless some teams overpay.

Allen, Pearson and Armia I doubt there's a market. Maybe a 5th for Pearson.

My hunch is we'll get a pick to keep salary on some deal as the 3rd wheel and that's it for this deadline.

not sure how 4assets is similar to 1 (what we got to take him should not factor in to what we got for him) -I consider the conditionals offset although there is no way we ever get the conditional in 2027 as the Jets are not winning it all .
That conditional is so dumb. Why even bother? Should be a conditional first at least until if the condition is on winning the Cup.

What does like have to do with business?

You don't have to be liked but if you're unnecessarily prickly you might not be the the first GM they call

You know first hand that relationship building is an important part of conducting business, malaka.

I don't think those rules generally apply in a 31 other only scenario. Their options are limited as it is. You don't have to be prickly but being firm on something you want included? Who cares what the others think because to get it they've won the cup and they won't give a shit.

This is why I said it's his version of gambling. He'll take the 8.5% shot (as of today) it happens.

well, yeah...I said "I wonder"

it's just as likely that Hughes adds these conditions in a charismatic way without seeming like a butthole

The GM circle is cliquey like any other gathering, and I see the same GMs transacting when they need a semi favour.

I don't know him like you do, but Hughes strikes me like a fair, considerate fellow

I just hope Hughes isn't ride or die with his people like The Charlatan was. We're in this situation because The Charlatan didn't give a fuck about properly handling the minor league system and didn't give a fuck about our amateur scouting.

If the people doing the grunt work aren't good enough (Looking at you, Bobrov, Lapointe & Billy Dumbfuck from Bawstun), I hope he'll be willing to cut ties before they're able to damage the franchise even further.
