Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

He was RFA, we had no pressure to trade him, and Hughes himself said at the time that he wasn’t trying to trade unless an offer blew him away.

That trade and Toffoli’s were huge meh.
Did help us tank but agree they were meh.

You don't know that.
How much more could they have gotten and Hugo is good at trading

Both had limited playoff trading partners

TT went for a 2nd and third this year , Habs got a first , 4rth and B level prospect

Lek was a third liner due a big raise , Barron was further ahead than any low first rounder , plus the second in return

Lekky also went from a 40pt/per 82 game player to a 60 point guy… nobody here had that on their bingo card

He may have some fairly good players, that he plays with right?

Starting in September he would look really good with new hooking dock on the second line

Team effect, for sure. And that’s not a slight, he’s a good player and we could use someone like who is 4-5 years younger and 2M cheaper.

We traded TT, essentially a 30g scorer with 3 years on his contract at a reasonable 4.5M, for a late 1st (Mesar) and a B prospect (Heineman). It might end up being absolutely nothing.

When the Flames traded Toffoli to the Devils, they got Sharangovich, who has 30 goals and 56 point this season. Which trade was better?

Lehkonen, we didn't have to trade him. We didn't get a first so the key is Barron, and the quality of the trade depends on his performance. For now it's meh, I'm sure there was a better prospect to get or a 1st somewhere else.

Toffoli and Lehkonen were probably our 2 best trade pieces and so far we got absolutely nothing in return.

TT was traded late in the year so its closer to 2 years

Sharangovich was a 13 goal scorer from Joisy

Conroy had to salvage any roster player and paid him 2x 3.1 , plus he is a UFA after next year .

His 30 goal season is a bonus but good luck paying 6 mil on a team going nowhere at 27 years of age

That contract and player type transaction was never going to happen on a rebuilding Habs team

Lek netted us a first round prospect that was 2 years ahead of any draft pick and a second , all this for a 30ish point player third liner

I dont see anyone handing us an A level prospect or a higher pick in any trade

I very clearly stated leading up to the deadline you won’t get fair value for Lekhonen - he can be moved up & down a lineup in any game situation w excellent hockey IQ, and never plays pousse çaca hockey. The ultimate glue player simply looking at stats doesn’t do service

HuGo traded glue guy for this…
