Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Its tough for sure but rebuilds are not linear and setbacks happen

The worst case on all many levels is happening

The hype around our young D on our roster except Hutson ( Wifi/ Struble/ Barron ) are no more than 3rd pair which is fine

Primo- not a back up

Newhook/ Dach are near bust status ...not expecting miracles but not this shit

Roy- does nothing when called up

Team D overall attention to detail is problematic

All this when Gally/ Anderson / Evans/ Heineman and even Armia playing above expectations
that doesn't read as "non-linear" but as "disaster"

This happens often when teams add big names that are not good. I'd bet the over on them next year though.
Well not good, they added 2 40 goals scorer and a defensemen that scored 47 last year.

Forsberg had 48 goals, 94 points last season and he's going on a 24G, 54 points season, the worst of his career.
Stamkos is going on a 21G, 42 pts season. his previous worst was 66 points, which is about what I was expecting of him this year.
Marchessault, 42 goals last year, a career year but going on 16G, 48 points.
Even Josi is down, going on 61 points after a 85 points season.

I'm surprised Brunette is still employed.

True. More overated than bad.

Old players do that as the age.

I didn't expect them to be this bad so I think next year will be an improvement. But I didn't expect them to improve on last season.

Tried for a quick fix when they should have been rebuilding. Didn't think they would be this bad but figured they'd be bad
That is what happens when you hit the chicken switch on the rebuild and pull a Bergevin. You end up prolonging the agony.

The only way is to stay the course and resist the urge to try quick fixes and band-aid's. We did that when Bergevin was here and all it did was delay the inevitable.

Stick to your plans and fuck the fans.

yet you want them to win when you attend, how do you square that circle?

I thought they had a chance to pull a St. Louis(Blues) and make a possible run in the west for 1-2 yrs. They may have figured the current prospects would then step in. But its all gone south.

we always overrate our prospects, remember Farrell, he was the future, oops

Jason Ward, Aaron Asham, Eric Chouinard, always turns out they are not nearly as good as we think

The key is to sign UFA’s BEFORE their career years. Rarely happens, however. Panarin is one of the few.
