I guess that explains why Ron Francis was hired to manage the NHL's most recent expansion team, with his long and extensive non-hockey related background.

Sea consortium ownership are not finance types, neither is Ryan Smith Utah’s new owner. Car, NJD, Pit all are. Vinik was the first one to start the trend when he bought TBay. Houston will be when awarded.

By hiring Steve Yzerman? And then promoting his long-time assistant GM when Yzerman resigned?

Like with Habsy, the facts don't support your thesis, even if you constantly move the goalposts.

David Bonderman is, but it's a big group of owners. But the main guy is Leiweke which is a long term pro sports executive.

I know of another guy who works in the league and got there the same way.

I know a dude who got a job with a NBA team by doing analytics on high school basketball in Toronto.
