Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

This is a great article. Seems others agree that Dobes isn't some wilting flower that needs sheltered.

Montembeault is getting starts out of respect that is unearned imo. Sure he may be the nicest guy in the world but his play has not merited the devotion.
Price said from what he has seen he likes his body language.. I am sure when Dobes looked up to the rafters after the goal Price would not of liked the body language.. Dobes has not been the same goalie he was on the road as the last 2 games at the Bell centre.. I am hoping it is just nerves because it is the Bell Centre. I think we have a pretty good goalie in Dobes.. I am not sure i would hand him the reins just yet.

I fear Guhle is cursed. I'm afraid of an injury whenever he is near the puck. Then, last night, he gets hurt all on his own. I wouldn't count on him going forward, and would trade him as soon as he is healthy. Just too much shit going on with him.

Problem is, other teams probably see the same and wouldn't offer much. Whatever, we can't keep him. I'm also wondering if Reinbacher follows suit.

Despite all those young defencemen we have been breaking in over the last few years, in the end we may not have much back there. Except Hudson.

Hopefully it’s just a series of flukes

Yes our promising youth on D maybe a stretch

This injury doesn't really worry me long-term. Yeah, it sucks, but what are the chances that he'll ever get another injury where his leg gets cut from his own skate? It's like a few years ago when Gallagher kept getting hand injuries and, I mean, it's not great, but is a player really fragile if he gets a puck slapshotted right on his hand & a bone or two breaks?

What worried me about Guhle was his last playoff run in Junior, where he played with a fucked up shoulder and it required surgery after the playoffs, which prevented him from participating the Canada's WJC that was delayed until the summer due to Covid restrictions.

Well that’s probably why one makes $8,5M vs $3.1M for the other…
One's a future HHOFer and will be in consideration for best goalie of his generation with Lundqvist, Vasilievsky and Price, and the other's a glorified backup being pushed to play more games than he normally should.

Comparing Montembault to Grubauer is disingenuous. A better comparison would be Grubauer to Primeau or Tristan Jarry.

Grubauer

Yeah what a stretch eh? Fuck off. Grubauer is actually better, I'm sure that's what you meant.

Fuck the facts with you guys eh? Just gonna make me throw up more facts as to why Montembeault doesn't deserve the crease.

I'm sure I'll get some bullshit sample size to refute. Too fucking funny. Monty is ungood people.

For grins and giggles

Tristan Jarry

Win % 51.61

Cayden Primeau (albeit smaller sample size)

Win % 23.64

So in actuality, Montembeault is closer to Primeau than Grubauer or Jarry.

Can we stop this BS defending of Montembeault already?

Guhle seems incapable of getting out of his own way at times. He’s a 55-60 games a year player unfortunately. You can say this was just a flukey injury but Suzuki never seems to have these types of flukey injuries. Too bad, he was playing really well too.

Except this isn't a career retrospective. Nobody's comparing the summary of their careers except you because you don't want to lose an internet argument.

Grubauer, at one point, was a good player who was a consistent .915% or higher goalie throughout his twenties. The player who's been in Seattle has objectively been one of the worst players in the league. Nobody's comparing Grubauer from his pre-Seattle days to Montembault except you because, what, your pride won't allow you to because this is the hill you want to die on?

You're extremely disingenuous in most arguments, but this is quite the leap even for you.
