Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

What is so bad about these comments
Because wins aren't necessarily a function of how a goalie plays. A goalie could have a great record and still give up 4 a game if his team's a powerhosue that scores 5+ / game.

If your best argument for a player is he's the goalie version of Pat Maroon, because he won a lot as a fat dude too, and not his technique? Or how he'll project in the NHL? Yeah, you're the type of person whose opinion should be ignored.

To be fair, lots of draft analysts had Fowler as one of the top goalies in this draft, some even the top one.

He is saying he is clutch when it matters , no issue with that

Except that he isn't.

Billy-something's argument starts and ends with, since he was 12 he's always been doubted and he's won everywhere. Oh and that if you had to take a goalie right now to win you a game, he'd take Fowler over (redacted) hands down. That's it.

Nothing about coming up big in big games, nothing about being reliable, nothing about his skill, nothing about his progression from age x to now, quite literally nothing beyond that.

This is exhibit A of bad scouting.

I don't think a single person had Fowler as their top goalie. He was universally seen as a third rounder and the highest I saw him ranked was 45th by McKeen's, where they had him fourth behind Augustine, Bjarnason & Hrabal.

In fairness to the guy who sounded like an idiot, we don’t know what else he said that didn’t make the final edit. maybe he said “the guy is a straight up WINNAH because he prepares like nobody else I’ve seen, he watches tons of tape, learning the shooting tendencies of all the players he will face next game”

I heard two draftniks on NHL Network Radio state that they thought Fowler was the best goalie in this year’s draft. You can take it up with them if you’d like.

Goalies are like throwing darts on a board and hope one sticks , toughest position to make an assessment

And to be fair, people with thick "Bawston" accents just sound like morons, even if they aren't. There's really only 2 accents in New England. You're either Ben Affleck in Good Will Hunting or you're a Kennedy.

I don't take it as his best argument.. I take as excitement... I agree that wins or loss are not necessarily a function of how a goalie plays, in regards to Fowler , his first year with the Phantoms there were 3 goalies that played that season and Fowler had the best stats of all three by a long shot, the next year he was the main guy and they won a championship.. the kid has talent, i see why he is excited..

Presale for single game tickets was today. General public gets their shot on Monday. Bring money.

I managed to get my tickets for the January 13th game. Last year I got 4th row of the upper deck for $135. This time it's $180 for the 9th row. The absolute cheapest ticket, in the very last row behind the Habs goal is $146. Of course, a game versus the Oilers is probably more in demand than one against the Blues, which were the opponents last year.

My ticket to see the Habs in Edmonton cost me $207 for a seat behind the Oilers net 11 rows off the ice.

Now I have to wait until the 22nd when Flames tickets go on sale.
