Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

I expected more offence from Nick and Caufield. Didn’t expect Anderson to forget how to score. A blah season in the midst of a rebuild. Good trades, nice picks next draft, and hard lessons.

Can't complain with the efforts most nights. But when they play the top teams, not so good entertainment.

About what I expected, I'd say. Harvey-Pinard is another guy I thought might contribute to the offense, but not so far. I am surprised a little with the depth we've shown up front despite the injuries-Monahan healthy so far, Pearson(till recently) and Armia making contributions with their chance to play more than expected....

But can't say I'm too excited about the future two years into the rebuild. Hopeful, not excited.

This year the team is playing much better as an unit.. when a team is focusing on this, players stats can suffer.. ie: CC is playing much better away from the puck.. Slafs is night and day from last year.. I am not concerned about players stats especially when I see the growth the team has implying a system. I disagree with Suzuki ceiling, I think he is a 75-85 pt player..

Their record, given the injured players they have, is actually shocking.

One of the theories I head from some Talking Media Heads (TMHs) is that Caufield, Guhle, etc. are trying to round out their games, or add/improve certain facets at the pro level. The implication is that it’s a bit bumpy for young players.

Not sure if that’s valid, could be rationalization. But still, it’s a thought.

How are you all feeling about the season so far? The team is battling but on an individual level it’s a lot of meh. Normally there is a few surprises and a few let downs but there hasn’t been a lot of surprises this year besides of Strubble and it seems like everyone one else is struggling. Even in a rebuilding year we should normally be expecting some bright spots I think. Curious about other people perspectives.
Mostly just disappointing in last year's draft. Doesn't look like a lot of upside in the later rounds. With that and the Dach injury it is tough to get too excited.

Yeah we only drafted 3 forwards and none with any interesting upside. Hugo needs to do something about of lack of scoring forwards prospects.

I'm not saying we should trade Hutson. But don't be shocked if he can't do half the things he's doing now when he gets to the bigs. You can say that Caufield has defied the odds but he isn't a defenseman. I will be very interested to see how a guy as small as Hutson is going to manage.
he is the same size as Quinton Hughes
