Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Dach has a 55 point pace as a Hab
Newhook is at 46

Decent odds they can be in that 60-70 point range next year

He is a number one center on this team... by default. The same way Samuel Montembault's a #1. They're #1s because they happen to be playing for one of the worst teams in the league.

On a championship caliber team, though? The only championship caliber team in the league where he'd be the #1 center is Bawstun. Every other team vying to win the Cup, he's their #2 or #3. ESPN had a poll with players & executives, Suzuki didn't receive a single vote: https://www.espn.com/nhl/insider/in...top-centers-players-execs-vote-best-2023-2024

Not that it's the end-all-be-all, as I would take him over a couple of players that got votes. But he's still around the 20th best center in the league.

I get why some people think he's a real #1, though. We've been so offensively starved for the last 30 years that we've lowered expectations.

Suzuki's unfortunately going through the exact same career path as Saku Koivu. A nice center that is expected to be a #1, but he just isn't.
Vegas and the Blues when they won the Cup didn't have an elite center.. point per game player.. Suzuki has some swagger.. I love the push back last night when he gave up the pass to let them tie.. he came back and almost scored, hit the post.. his ceiling is higher than 60..

60 point guy, give or take 25 points :)

Suze is a student of the game — i can see some 85pt ( or more) years in his future.

Not saying he’ll do that consistently but he might enjoy some positive outliers

He isnt Eichel or 200 foot horse ROR

I didn't say an elite center.

But since you brought up St Louis & Las Vegas, Ryan O'Reilly was a better player than Suzuki at that time & Jack Eichel's a better player than Suzuki. I don't think that should be much of an argument.

Both are older than Suzuki , as far as production is concerned at the end of their career I think Suzuki numbers will be similar to Eichel

Both are not "top" centres as described here, they both fall in the 2nd patch where Suzki is/will be..
Nick is a tier below

Jack was MVP caliber in the playoffs and ROR went beast mode for 2 months

No disrespect to Nick , he wont do that on any team
