Habs Season Thread: 2024-25 Regular Season

Not the most well rounded kids, however.

It’s like when an interviewer asked Tom Brady what book he last read…. And he was like “uhhhhhh… you mean not football related”

The guy just practiced and watched football tape

Tiger vs Roger?
It was called In Search of Greatness. It got Jordan, Gretzky, Pelé, Rice and Serena in it. It’s ok, but there is some good parts. There was a bit about Gretzky watching games and drawing on a paper where the puck would go and then studying this to know where to go on the ice that blew my mind.

Yeah. Reminds me of Kobe Bryant who was taking dancing lessons to improve his footwork.

also Mamba Mentality (which the likes of J Drouin do not possess)

I also think a few athletes think being drafted highly is making it! (with a ton of money arriving so quickly) rather than just the start of something

that explains some of those mind boggling busts

One thing that really sticks out in the documentary is the the mental factor is the biggest part. Some guys have the physical attributes but either don’t know how to read the game, or have the drive to succeed.

Anderson is a really interesting case. MSL tried to make him his pet project and he started to overthink everything. Simpler is better with him. North-south, pucks deep, finish your checks. He’s very effective when he plays like that. He gets in trouble when he tries to be creative.

4th round pick despite his size and wheels was a clear indicator Josh was always a long shot project
