If we were going to go out and look for another Jake we may as well have done the deal. Whatever we would have gotten for Evans, it eventually probably would have turned out to be apples for oranges at best, and 3-4 years down the road.

Only thing is, I thought Beck was his replacement. #3 and #4 centres I suppose.

I'm old school sure, but I still like the idea of keeping a decent player rather than replacing him with someone of equal value if that's all you are doing.

HuGo did well. 4 years will probably take Evans to the end of his career and he will, relatively speaking and considering how the cap will go up, make peanuts. $2.85M with no trade restrictions will make him easy to dump when the time comes.
