I believe teeds has passed away…

Montana

Champion
teeds and I followed each other on FB back in the day to discuss penny stocks, colloidal silver, and the ketogenic diet…so I’m 90% sure this was his profile…..and it would appear he recently passed from cancer.

RIP Teeds

You were a maniac but entertaining as hell. A legend, tbh.

a 1 of 1, without a doubt.

most unique poster in scout/Forum Ice history, and it’s not particularly close.

Sure hope you didn't refuse effective treatment tho. That would make me even sadder.

RIP.

after reading this, I had to check and unfortunately colloidal silver is a alternative medicine people think cures cancer, which has zero scientific backing to it, and isn’t recognized by the medical community as having any effect.

hopefully he accepted proper treatment as well, but I’m sure he was also going the Andy Kauffman/Steve Jobs route to some degree as well.

Can confirm that’s teeds’ real name, and from having met him a couple of times that’s him in the picture.

In a forum & longtime posting group with more than its share of nutcases, he might’ve been our biggest nut. And he had his flaws. But he was entertaining as hell, had a unique perspective and a lot of original ideas.

He was also nothing but friendly and even more entertaining in person the couple of times I met him.

RIP teeds. And fuck cancer.

Bummer. He was a good guy. We traded a bunch of messages back in the day. Always figured he’d turn up here again at some point.

His obituary:

Crane, Walter Winchester
June 19, 1957 - November 4, 2023
Died in Grand River Hospital Freeport Campus Waterloo, Ontario on Saturday November 4, 2023, at age 66.

Survived by his son Adam Crane, wife Grace King, mother Linda Ashley-Crane, adoptive father David Crane. He was predeceased by his father Gualtiero Toscani.

Walter was born in Quebec City but shortly after, the family moved to Toronto. He attended Bedford Park and Davisville Public Schools before his parents moved to Ottawa. There he attended Hopewell Public School and Glebe Collegiate. When the family moved back to Toronto in 1974, he completed high school at Lawrence Park Collegiate and went on to attend Glendon College at York University.

Walter had a life-long interest in physical fitness and sports. He excelled at tennis and went on to obtain an Ontario and a Canadian ranking. In 1978, he and the number two player ‘brought home the gold’ at the Ontario University Athletic Association championships held in London Ontario that year. The event marked the first time in its history that the York tennis team was victorious.

Walter’s first job after university was as Assistant Squash and Tennis Pro at the Granite Club in Toronto. After a few years he made a change and went on to enjoy a long career in the investment business.

Special thanks to the caring staff at Freeport and to friend and neighbour Pat Welsh. Special thanks also to Adam’s wonderfully supportive friends.
A Celebration of Walter’s Life will take place in the Fireside Reception Room of the Erb and Good Family Funeral Home, 171 King Street S. Waterloo on Sunday, November 19 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m. Cremation will have taken place.

Thank you. I had meant to ask that exact question for anyone who had met him at meet ups etc. I was a bit uncomfortable posting it without being 100%, so appreciate that confirmation.

plenty of good thought provoking ideas mixed in with the wild stuff too. He was going on about the keto diet a good 5-10 years before Rogan ever had people on his podcast discussing it.

He was also nothing but friendly and even more entertaining in person the couple of times I met him.

Yeah, the little we chatted in DMs or on FB he was always great, and much more toned down than his posts.

wasn't a big Teeds fan, he really lost it for the past few years. But we did get some solid memories - Crosby calves, etc.

RIP Teeds
