Micheal Hage - Montreal Canadien

Of course it won't be good enough for "those people". When they bemoan the lack of Quebec born players on the Habs they aren't talking about not having enough Matheson's or Scandella's. Les ti-gars are the only Quebec born players that matter. So while Hage being able to speak French is nice, he doesn't "count" against the perceived francophone player deficit.

If people are that hot and bothered to watch French guys play hockey for the bleu blanc rouge, they can buy tickets to Laval Rocket games because that's pretty much where most of them will wind up playing.

lack of Quebec borns is a league wide phenomenon
For the other 31 teams, it's a "phenomenon". For the Habs, according to the francophone media jackals, it's a "problem" and an "outrage" that the Habs are responsible for solving singlehandedly by signing every undersized piece of shit Jean-Guy who can score 20 goals in the Q.

That's fine by me. The cost of doing business and a drop in the overall bucket

I wonder if there is more than 10 people in Quebec that are actually outraged. Until they figure fix players development in the province, I find it very hard and disingenuous to be outraged.

Agreed. If you’re wondering about the outrage then it probably isn’t there. There is no outrage that is unreported in our social media age

They're trying to stoke outrage. That's my issue with it. Otherwise, yes, fix your back yard. The good players out of Quebec make it in spite of the system, not because of it.

Also, more and more are going the university route because of it.

Let’s first clarify “they”…..TVA sports which is on the verge of closing shop closing in on bankruptcy….

And Stephane Leroux…whose entire career hinges on being the “Q expert”

Probably not, but you can bet that the 10 people who are pissed off all have jobs in the French media.

It's always TVA or La Journal man

That's who I was referring to, an article in TVA. Who else could I have meant by "stoking"? The fans are the stokees

There is always a few being outraged at anything these days, it’s just noise. I’m the first person who would like to see more local guys on the team, and before you ask, yes guys like Matheson counts, and no I wouldn’t pick local guys over more talented others, but we can’t just summon those guys out of thin air. There was like what 10 players drafted out of the Q this year? And people losing their shit over a 5’7 player? Gimme a break.

This is Peladeau's quixotic crusade against the NHL snubbing him.
The NHL isn't snubbing him. They like his shiny, nearly new arena and all, but he doesn't seem willing to pay what it costs to be an NHL owner. Peladeau, for his part, isn't dumb and he knows well enough that even with the Nordiques playing to capacity crowds at Le Centre Videotron his profit margins, when the price of buying the franchise is factored in, are years away.

And when he inevitably decides to sell and precisely no one inside Quebec has anywhere near the scratch to buy it off him at any price, then the only way he can make a buck is to sell it to some American who will move the team just like before at pennies on the dollar, probably, because he will have no leverage. And when the team moves he'll be the bad guy and he still has other business interests in Quebec and needs to not be a pariah.

What PKP wants is risk-free ownership. He's got the arena (and conned the taxpayers into footing most of that bill) but when it comes to ownership it's all on him to use his own money or form an Expos-like consortium full of petty, small fish minority owners who won't want to spend any money.

Peladeau and Balsillie are snubbed because of their attitudes and history. All other crap is fluff.

Nah - this is Peladeau using lowest common denominator in last ditch effort to save a failing business - the end is near for TVA sports

When all else fails the Peladeau family recipe has always been… plight of the pur laine being snubbed by the English as a way to drum up sales as short term as it may be
