New Canadian Politics Thread

Just our nutjob Premier sitting down for a one on one with Tucker Carlson. Nothing to see here

I mean, what’s actually wrong with this? It’s not like this is a guy who in all seriousness literally called for the invasion & conquest of the country that Smith is a sitting Premier in.

…oh.

I mentioned this previously as a massive problem with immigration. Immigrants are not being able to fill the open jobs they are being brought-in for. It's a broken system. We end up with more Uber drivers instead. Canadian companies go overboard on the 'Canadian experience" crap. Yes, in some industries it is important. But I've had clients not wanting to employ people from Europe(Like England and Belgium!) working entry-level machines as an operator.

They will still find ways around it of course. So this won't do much.

And the more qualified immigrants end up leaving — hurdles everywhere, jobs, housing, traffic, and shit weather half the year as the sour cherry on top.

Immigrants statistically are getting fed-up and leaving. The system they have set-up is causing frustration for everyone.
If you're an electrician from overseas, I get it. Different systems. But most other things it doesn't matter. We need to stop acting like we are so advanced in Canada. we are in the stone ages.

I don’t think it’s snobbishness as much as it is that most industry groups and associations have a vested interest in maintaining the status quo

I agree. I just think businesses are not on the same page as our government so it's not working.

This has been going on for a few decades, btw.

I worked on a story detailing two Muslim brothers in the same technical field — one emigrated to Toronto, the other New Jersey.

I talked to the Canadian sibling about his advantages/disadvantages vis a vis his brother

Advantage: more tolerance overall for his ethnicity, he and his family can attend a mosque nearby

Disadvantage: stuck driving a cab while his New Jersey brother has a real job

What an eye opener it was for me… things have just gotten worse

Trudeau embarrassing himself in foreign policy yet again.

Dude really has to turn over the reigns so there is someone to vote for next election.

Especially given how much we fuck over farmers as a society. They actually grow the damn stuff…

Yup, if thats not one of those societal red flag things that future anthropologists study about the downfall of past civilizations, I don't know what is.
