this a pretty big chance for Holmberg too. he's played well the past couple games with willy. He needs to take advantage of this opportunity else he might be on waivers this week.

Although I'd like to leave Marner and Nylander alone to keep doing what they're doing, but having Matty on another line away from both probably isn't realistic in terms of the ice time each needs to get. But if pairing him with someone, I'd rather it be Willy, who doesn't completely change his game when playing with Matty. Marner seems to become a different player, and not for the better.

Agreed but I think you can still get Willy his minutes while having him drive his own line. Swap Willy and his Bro and then just give Willy the odd shift with Matthews depending on situation.
 
our shooting %ge should be way higher and I'm fairly confident at least a part of the reason for the drop is tactical...

also, gonna be interesting when our goalies inevitably struggle a bit, too
 
not to draw any clear conclusions, but for fun here's the difference between with Matthews (top) and without Matthews (bottom). The "without Matthews" one is also more than just without Matthews because it's included a much larger list of injuries.

With Matthews we were pretty much good not great at everything, but unlucky on special teams.

Without Matthews we've been an elite defensive team with an elite PP, but a disaster offensively other than the PP, with a mediocre PK.
