OT: American Politics

This Shuster guy is telling me to stay calm. Is there any chance she’s pulling this out?

Despite my general demeanour right now...yes, there's a chance. Not a good one though. I went into tonight 65/35....was 50/50 when it was looking like a blue wall win....20/80 at the moment.

Eh, you've fallen for the divide and conquer bit. The same people who invented "woke" as a derogatory concept (at it's core it's just human rights and egalitarianism) are the ones who advance hyper capitalist policies that reinforce the class divide. The richest man in the world bought a social media platform and beat the shit out of the "woke" drum for a reason. That was not an accident.
Sure. I'll give you that.
And?
In 2006 I was told by peers to stop applying for arts grants in Ontario because I was pale stale and male.

Then therapy school.

I've been on the recieving end of left wing fucking garbage for going on twenty years and I'm sick of those people.

Recently diagnosed with Dyslexia and severe adhd, my whole life was with lefties who blamed my inability to shut up on my skin colour rather than the structural deficit in my brain.

The CRA see me as disabled for taxation purposes.

But to the lefties I used to run with, my lack of impulse control was problematic and due to my white privilege.

I was the first in my family to have a university education.

I do not believe in 'equity' as an approach to solving societal ills. It results in scapegoating people like me by progressives.

I do not like musk either.

I am however really looking forward to the reels of purple haired neurodiverse people having meltdowns about how the world is ending due to turnip.

You make it seem like the fight for race/gender/sexual equality is completely divorced from economic justice
I've been told that racial justice was more important than economic justice. I am fundamentally against affirmative action and have been since I've been 18 while being a member of the NDP till that pissant singh took the reigns over Charlie Angus.

Especially when members of those groups are far more likely to be in the lower economic classes specifically because of their race or gender.

It's the same struggle but the real elite class co opted it to divide and conquer. Well, they're winning by a lot right now.
Then don't make race based policies. A rising tide floats all boats.

Good racism, affirmative action breeds resentment and more bad racism. Don't do that shit. Racism is racism is racism. Prejudice based on skin colour is idiotic. And I don't buy any of the stats shit from people practicing the art of sociology. It's not a fucking science. Further, the left wing capture of ethical review panels in universities around 2009 is a big part of why everything is awry.

When I was in school there were 5 lefties for one righty. We used to shit all over the token right wing dude. Now the ratio is more like 25 to 1. There is no room for difference at the top and as such left wing thought has stagnated, ossified and become a wank fest of finding fault with 'the system'. I am not conservative but conservatives are part of my world and my intellectual cannon.

On top of this, I'm in my fifties now. I'm all outta fucks and feeling nhilistic about pretty much everything and ready to go live out my days in the woods like the Hermit of Gully lake...

I'm not yet a prepper, just prepper adjacent. Having chickens will do that to ya.

BTW: Processing meat kings was fun and delicious. I hand killed twenty chickens last weekend.

Yum!

I mean, US history is a bit different. You can't just take a group that were forcefully held back for a few hundred years and tell them to catch up economically because you've made everything fair now.
