OT: American Politics

Sending people out to lecture the black men to vote for the camel in Pennsylvania was a really good strategy: Vote for us if you know what's good for you. Shut up an dribble...

the turnip tapped into something really clear with american men.

On top of this, I'm in my fifties now. I'm all outta fucks and feeling nhilistic about pretty much everything and ready to go live out my days in the woods like the Hermit of Gully lake...

Oh man, I can relate to that.

But I have kiddos, so I can’t be a nihilist.

I mean, US history is a bit different. You can't just take a group that were forcefully held back for a few hundred years and tell them to catch up economically because you've made everything fair now.
Nope but you also can't say that the nation is essentially racist. You also can't argue that blacks are worse off now then they were in the fifties and that the efforts of the civil rights movement had no impact. That's what that POS Kendi, Cotes etc are arguing. They are parasitic grifters who should be sent the fuck to Liberia.

I mean it's either admit that or white wash your history books.

No and no. But that's besides the point. There needed to be something done to close the gap that was created through literally hundreds of years of racism. Racist policies didn't stop with the civil rights movement. Red lining was prevalent until the late 70's/early 80's ffs. That completely knee capped the ability of the black community to partake in the generational transfer of wealth the way the white community did. "Oh hey, we finally took that boot off of your neck, you're welcome...btw, have you heard that new Michael Jackson album, pretty good eh?....so yeah, best of luck catching up to the rest of us with a 100-200 yr head start, toodles!"

A rising ride lifts all boats, if you can afford a boat already. Otherwise a rising tide just drowns you.

The idea that Trump and his cadre might win and govern in order to resolve address economic injustice is… wow. This is the oligarchic class taking full control.
Yes. It is. And that's not why people voted for him. He struck on something much more important to people. Shop Class as soulcraft nails it:

A quick summary? For a refrigerator repairman in Wisconsin, he has a very small chance of becoming incredibly rich. Ditto his offspring. His children might have a chance to have a high earning, low prestige job like a successful construction business. And due to the impact of cultural capital, there is no way on earth any of his offspring would ever have a high pay high prestige job. Every one knows that you have to be an connected ivy league brat to write for the new york times review of books. And that high prestige, high pay work is not available to very many people. The left wing elites are a closed loop with no access no matter how talented you are. Affirmative action lets in just enough of the colour. They defo do not want working class people.

The billionaire .5% are using the poor's resentment to hammer the rest of the top 15% of earners who have high wage high prestige jobs.

Status matters almost as much as money and the poorer of americans with no hope of high pay and high prestige are biting the managerial class who are always telling them what the fuck to do.

Yes, it's unlikely they'll ever be rich but ya know what?

There's a chance...
(someone put the meme up please)

I disagree.

And as it seems a great deal of black men do too.

It boils down to racism. It's always about the racism. Trump gives people a license to be openly racist. That's why they love him. Because he appeals to their worst instincts.

America is a failed state.

eh? A significant majority of them don't.
Sure. And a lot of them moved to trump.

The resentment of the managerial class and their righteousness is real. If. you don't believe it, that's fine. But it's deep and real. And the turnip is a fuck you to the bosses on behalf of the bosses bosses.
