I had to bring my kid to the doc today and they had us wait in the car until they called that the doctor was ready for her. I was impressed with the diligence this particular office is using. I saw constant wipe downs and forced distancing in exams rooms, no waiting in the waiting room.

I wish everyone was as diligent as this office was.

Well, like so much of the American mythology, the "disaster prepper" was always a combination of dumb and full of shit. It's impossible to actually prepare for the "end of the world", because none of us have a fucking clue what it's going to look like if it happens. This fiction that they've created where a shallow bunker/grave, an AR and some freeze fried dog food was going see them live long enough to do anything important is full on loony.

The truly dangerous part of the fiction though is that it completely ignores the fact that if there is some sort of civilization threatening event, the only way we're going to survive it is by actually working together as a group (yeah, we're fucked...I'm on team fungus for the dominant life form on the planet long term). This concept of crawling into an oversized metal coffin for a couple months is crazy. If shit ever hits the fan so badly that you need it, it's too late for it to be of any use.
