On another note,

I'd like to see AOC out in Texas delivering cheques to needy Texans, then having the opportunity to explain that this is what socialism means...helping people who desperately need it, that it doesn't have to mean lazy poor people sucking off the rich, unless of course that's how they feel themselves?
Bet they don't.

honestly I'm fully on the habsy boat now. I don't think there will be any civil or criminal charges laid against Trump directly. buncha cowards.

I am learning that you can always trust Washington to never do the right thing. or only to ever do it for the wrong reasons.

so I am going to keep calling 'smoke' anytime I see news stories like this, until we actually see any evidence of a real fire (i.e. charges)

I guess you can be skeptical since he's like a mob boss that has gotten away with all his shenanigagns to this point but not entirely sure why the Manhattan DA would be lumped into Washington/Congress etc. though?

I can't believe it has taken so long to be able to see Trump's tax returns.

I also don't believe there is going to be much of immediate interest in them. It's not like there is going to be a record of all the laundered money. There will be the revelations about how little money he made and how little tax he paid, but until forensic accountants start going through and explain what it means, I don't think there will be anything more shocking than what we already know. And the interesting stuff will be too complicated to make the news.

I don't think there'll be anything shocking in it either. We already have a pretty good idea they'll show he overstated the value of his properties to the banks when obtaining loans and understated the value of his property when paying taxes.

Is there any material difference between this and all the seemingly hundreds of previous times it’s been announced that the way is clear for his tax returns to be released?

I’m kind of on the same page as Wayward—after endless stories of released tax returns and imminent criminal prosecution, and absolutely nothing yet so far when it’s been over a month since he left office, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Otherwise, I’ll keep assuming he’ll face absolutely no repercussions from the American legal system.

Tbh it's disappointing that they even need more evidence.

Think it was explicitly said when their decision came out before the election that it would take a while but like I said, I get the skepticism. I personally think he'll be indicted though.

I don't expect change.. Washington is Corrupt... So are many prosecutors' offices
Letting the big crooks go is a step up the ladder for many prosecutors. Especially a move from state to federal. The corruption is disgusting and won't change imo.

replace Washington with 'power brokers'. I trust them to look after their own interests first and foremost. accountability or justice are optional and only occur under very specific circumstances.
