Without the pettiness, the punching down, the 24 hour clusterfuck of hatred and vitriol, there is no Trump. He's an entirely empty vessel. He stands around lost or bored any time the subject isn't about him or someone who opposes him...which is of course about him and their failure to accept how great he is. The few times his people were able to get him to talk about anything that wasn't him for 5 minutes, he continuously tries to make that about him...nobody knows the middle east better than me, etc, etc.

Yes I entirely agree, someone who could act and talk like him without actually being him could probably have dialed down a few notches and yeah, probably strolled to a 2nd term. But without being authentically hatefilled, his people would see through him.

The thing about cults of personality is that they require someone who truly believes in their personal brand of bullshit.
