OT: American Politics



Since this is what they (as in Trump and his acolytes) have actually been after all along, the next step is to just say why even have elections? Dispense with all that voting and counting trouble and just let the President be whoever the Trumpiest among us "feel" would win the election.

haven't looked into it, but i wonder how hard it would be for them to eventually change the rules to they COULD appoint their own electors?

The federal government bent its knee to the will of Trump in all aspects.

The CDC stopped public briefings, started fudging numbers and reporting disinformation, feds pulled out of WHO, forced states to bid against each other for emergency equipment during a pandemic, gave Florida everything they asked for when there weren't a lot of cases while shorting states in mid-crisis only because DeathSantis kissed Donnie's ass. Gov't message was Trump message, downplay virus, ignore contact tracing and proper reporting, and politicize masks which has led to many thousands of unnecessary deaths. "Federal" task force hasn't met in weeks despite raging pandemic.

Also, original federal response plan was kiboshed by Jared Kushner.

The federal government showed zero ability to provide any actions or messaging that ran counter to the Trump Administration and continues to do so today, even after he lost the election.

I certainly don't hate non-progressives. in fact, you don't see me posting often about traditional L/R policies - and you'll see me arguing against left policy posted by beleafer almost as much, anyways.

I do hate bullshit. And I want everyone to hate it as well. And I think it's the urgent issue of our times. And a threat to democracy around the world. Absolutely.

When I see the bullshit infect the left side - like with socialist anti-democratic authoritarians, and guys like Glenn Grunwald, you bet I call it out too.

I recently had to go through an embarrassing ordeal just to get an appointment with my GP (took a fax on my office letterhead; after failed attempts at online booking and quite literally over two hours continuously on hold).

for the record, I like our healthcare system much better than yours, but its pretty fucked and has its own significant warts
