Why?

Healthcare is privatized in the US and someone has to shell out the initial cost of the test and hope the insurance companies or government pays. They don't always, believe that.

Centralized Healthcare systems are a different animal.

People can submit their invoices for reimbursement. It's how this system works, or doesn't work.

Today I learned that people claiming to know the system still ask stupid questions.

Next you'll be surprised that black people get longer sentences than white people.

He didn't ask a question. He said he's shocked you should have to pay for a test. Because from a public health perspective, it is shocking that your system works that way.
