OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

He needs it to double again in the next month before he considers a shut down?

They had almost 3900 confirmed cases yesterday...he need 8 fucking thousand a day before he'll consider a shutdown?

By the way...does anyone else 'member when the US response to covid was compared to Canada's response on this very board? Yeah, I 'member.

your good friends in sweden are also doing well

5th most deaths per capita i think

One of the major banks in Sweden, SEB, recently released projection that has Sweden's GDP contracting by 5% this year, which is similar to Finland and Norway, and more than Denmark. So the choice they thought they were making was blood or money, they chose blood. In the end, as I suggested would end up happening (international economies are too interconnected for any other outcome to have been realistic), they actually chose both. They just had a few weeks where they got to pretend that they were smarter than the experts elsewhere in the world.

California 5,528
Texas 5,112
Florida 2,926
Arizona 2,196
Mississipi 1,265
Georgia 1,227
South Carolina 1,008

On a Monday. New case totals on Sunday and Monday have been lower the entire pandemic.

This is going to get way, way, worse than it ever got in New York.

What makes you say that?

What makes you say that?

Because the states that are seeing as many or more new daily cases as New York was when they started shutting the state down are doing pretty much no mitigation whatsoever. And there's like... 12 of 'em.

My dumbass "friend" has been stuck in Croatia all covid and has been sending me all the covid conspiracy shit, including Djokovic's bullshit antivax tour.

Anyways....

Not defending Trump, but more talk needs to be about hospitalization rates and outcomes than simply number of infections. Give us a fuller picture.

Same here. Hospitalization rates are the reason we had to shut down. They are a bit scary in parts of Zona and Florida right now.

Completely the opposite in many parts of the country, of course. New York has gotten their percent positive rate down under 1%. It's not all bad, it's just frighteningly bad in like a dozen or so states.

hopefully they are better prepared with hospital beds, ventilators, treatment, safety protocols in nursing homes, etc
