im guessing the start of the uptick can be traced right back to around the time they decided it was ok to eat in restaurants again
Who the **** would even eat in a restaurant? People really couldn't go one summer without doing it? Yeesh.
the one time I went out with the wife, the closest table to us was 100% less than two metres away.I've gone to a restaurant about 5x in the last 3 months (all patio experiences). Going again tonight...and tomorrow afternoon.
Not about being spoiled (I cook 95% of the time) ....simply put, restaurants are one of the few venues where I can see my friends.
I've been super impressed by the protocol...lots of space between tables, constant wiping down, digital menus, etc
It's all relative I suppose...on this board, this probably puts me in the reckless category, but in my social group, I'm on on the cautious side.

I have no problem with patios, but I have no interest in sharing air space with a group of unmasked strangers.
I'm in HalifaxWere you downtown? I live in the burbs and the 2 places i go are all distanced (probably 10 ft at one place and atlease a full table at the other.
I kinda agree with the politicians here. Indoor private get togethers are the driver.
I guess it depends on how much a sacrifice not going to restaurants is for you. For me, it's not a sacrifice at all. I weigh the risk-reward and the reward for a restaurant is garbage considering the risk. I think I just have the perfect personality to handle a pandemic mentally. I realize that it's not easy for the social butterflies out there and I'm sympathetic to the psychological battle that this has posed, but in my eyes I'm like... This is a once in a lifetime event. If you can't put some (I get it, maybe not ALL) luxuries on hold for one summer then that just screams spoiled culture to me. A big reason we're in this situation right now is because people did not put these luxuries on hold which kinda makes me feel like a sucker for doing it myself (especially since I fucking caught it anyway by some stupid chance). But at the same time I don't want to be the "well everyone else is being reckless and living life normally so I might as well do it to" guy. So I don't really regret putting some things on hold. I still had a great summer really.I've gone to a restaurant about 5x in the last 3 months (all patio experiences). Going again tonight...and tomorrow afternoon.

I wish they released the data though.
