OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Who the **** would even eat in a restaurant? People really couldn't go one summer without doing it? Yeesh.

We're a really spoiled culture on a lot of fronts.

I haven't been inside of a restaurant to do more than pick up a take out order since March.

Our only saving grace is that covid is only a generational public health emergency and isn't airborne ebola or something similar.

Ive been inside 1 place 3 times. Its our local pub and when i go inside they only have 2 or 3 total tables. Other than that we stay outside

yeah I have entirely refrained from eating in restaurants or going to bars indoors, with the exception of one outing to celebrate our anniversary (let's just say my arm was gently twisted).

don't really have any plans to do it again though.

hell I don't really go anywhere indoors anymore unless I'm purchasing something (or I suppose getting my hair cut).

I’ve ordered takeout on occasion this summer (and had the courier do no-contact delivery), but I haven’t set foot in a restaurant or bar since before the lockdown started.

No fucking thanks to that.

I haven’t been nor do I plan on going into a restaurant until all this passes. However, I do feel for many restaurant owners.
alreadyI see a lot of restaurants closing down for good. As the pandemic drags on there will likely be quite a few more that will go out of business leaving a lot of staff without work and owners with not much except debt to show for their investment and hard work.

This pandemic hurts many people in many different ways and can’t be over soon enough for me.

I've gone to a restaurant about 5x in the last 3 months (all patio experiences). Going again tonight...and tomorrow afternoon.

Not about being spoiled (I cook 95% of the time) ....simply put, restaurants are one of the few venues where I can see my friends.

I've been super impressed by the protocol...lots of space between tables, constant wiping down, digital menus, etc

It's all relative I suppose...on this board, this probably puts me in the reckless category, but in my social group, I'm on on the cautious side.

the one time I went out with the wife, the closest table to us was 100% less than two metres away.

I have no problem with patios, but I have no interest in sharing air space with a group of unmasked strangers.

Were you downtown? I live in the burbs and the 2 places i go are all distanced (probably 10 ft at one place and atlease a full table at the other.

I kinda agree with the politicians here. Indoor private get togethers are the driver.

Yeah, but it's still crazy that in Ontario they just made the limits stricter, but you're still allowed 10 inside and 25 outside. Never mind finding 25 friends, the thought of going to a gathering that size is crazy.

I guess it depends on how much a sacrifice not going to restaurants is for you. For me, it's not a sacrifice at all. I weigh the risk-reward and the reward for a restaurant is garbage considering the risk. I think I just have the perfect personality to handle a pandemic mentally. I realize that it's not easy for the social butterflies out there and I'm sympathetic to the psychological battle that this has posed, but in my eyes I'm like... This is a once in a lifetime event. If you can't put some (I get it, maybe not ALL) luxuries on hold for one summer then that just screams spoiled culture to me. A big reason we're in this situation right now is because people did not put these luxuries on hold which kinda makes me feel like a sucker for doing it myself (especially since I fucking caught it anyway by some stupid chance). But at the same time I don't want to be the "well everyone else is being reckless and living life normally so I might as well do it to" guy. So I don't really regret putting some things on hold. I still had a great summer really.

Not sure I’m taking much of a risk or being reckless by sitting on a patio, several feet away from anyone. Probably took more of a risk just walking around, getting groceries and doing other odd errands.

tldr; my friends really wanted to see me...who am I to deprive them of my immense charm within a socially distant framework?

Oh the patio thing isn't reckless. It's not something I would do because for me the risk-reward sucks, but I get it for others. I'm more talking about people who go to indoor restaurants, night clubs, bars, house parties, etc. They are saying they the recent uptick in Toronto cases has been linked to indoor dining, nightclubs and bars. I wish they released the data though.

I can’t escape the irony that your zero risk tolerant ass contacted Covid and it ravaged you to such an extent that your forumice posting momentarily sunk to 11.7 posts/day from 16.2 posts/day.

More irony; I probably contacted Covid last night and will be dead in two weeks.

Luckily, TRUL will go on indefinitely.
