OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

Actually I think the school is doing well. They're being very precautious and sending lots of kids home. It's just putting a strain on the system because the kids can't return until tested.

Nah it’s a disaster. Huge strain on families and testing centres (and schools having to basically force little kids to get tested) because of runny noses - which aren’t really a symptom.

The lockdown should have been kept in place until they come up with a widely available vaccine. Many companies are forcing employees to continue to work from home.

Positive cases in my kid's school doubled overnight. (26 to 54) I think they were holding off reporting personally (I mean the government, not the school). Either that or it is about to explode exponentially.

like holy shit I can't believe we're actually going to have to deal with a legit 2nd wave. For fucks sake.

There are some nice side effects. The air quality in Toronto has improved a great deal, even with the car traffic returning in force. I've chalked this up to the lack of air planes. I have dinner outside most nights and for the entire spring/summer I've seen maybe half a dozen flying over (it's usually every few minutes).

I am too, but this end is still nowhere in sight status quo is bringing me down. Especially now that it’s started to get darker earlier. When it stayed light outside till 8 or 9 pm, it was a bit easier to deal with.

tbh its been a great summer.

going through this in the winter is a whole new ballgame tho.

Yeah, it has definitely been a nice summer. Got to spent plenty of time outdoors, a lot of time in cottage country and plenty of time with friends and family. Can’t complain.

We’ll see about the winter though. The upside for me is that I’m one of the rare weirdos who enjoys being outdoors even in the dead of a Canadian winter.

Indeed a great and very relaxing summer as a business owner myself. I was able to spend loads of time in cottage country because there's no face-to-face meetings going on.

Not sure how the winter will shape up. I sure hope we get some hockey, as that's the biggest winter entertainment for this urban creature.

How so? Are you referring to being cooped up?

Winter in Florida is the absolute best time of the year. I’m looking forward to winter. Summers here are brutal. Basically winter here is your summer there.

I mean... Is that surprising? Even the most optimistic knew it was coming.

I think there was a hope that it wouldn't be worse than the first go around, but the fact that everything rushed to open up, and then they decided to practically fully open bars and restaurants right before kids started going back to school, it's definitely not surprising.

In some ways, I feel like winter is going to be a better time to lock down in Canada, since nobody really wants to go out anyways. The problem is that people still want to get out and visit people, and all that has to be done inside now. Nobody really wants to sit and drink their starbucks outside, so the coffee shops and restaurants are going to start to get packed.

Spring is only 7 months away.
