OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

so ontario sets a new record for covid cases today, and that's even though they have a 90k testing backlog.

sweet.

Don't suck your dick too much. Controlling this virus in Halifax is not quite as difficult as doing so in the GTA. Whole different ball game.

With that said, I'm coming next summer. Deal with it.

No way we didn't have order of magnitude more positives in April. These headlines about new records are so silly. HOTTEST DAY EVER!

Don't disagree that they've done amazing and better than we are under Doug Fucking Ford's leadership. But it's a far less daunting task.
less daunting task, sure.

still managed pretty competently. arguably more so than other provinces.

anyways I recognize things can change really quickly. people here seem to get it and there is near universal compliance with masking requirements. just grateful we're currently able to keep things fairly 'normal', and aware how quickly that can change.

Apparently Ontario is trying to do something now to lock down again, without telling people to lock down. None of the reports quite seem to know what the change in rules all mean. Sounds like it's a "don't associate with anyone outside your household. Except for immediate family, or schools, or maybe other cases, but like try not to? Also we're not closing anything down officially."

School went from 54 total as of yesterday to 71 today. And they think it's a good idea. They only brought kids back on Sept 21. Mine is remaining remote learning, why parents would send their kids back to brick and mortar in this area is beyond me. Stupid is the real word for it.

They are sending out another notice that people will have the right to pull their kids out and go remote learning again if they didn't before. I think parents need to think about this long and hard. I swear there are plenty here that really don't care and are using the old chicken pox herd mentality. Parents used to throw their kids in the same room as one that got chicken pox just so they could all get it and develop immunity. Well, they forgot that chicken pox can lead to shingles when you are older and it is still better than you do not contract chicken pox, especially because there is a vaccine. These parents actually think that letting their kids get it and recover is the best way to go. They are not even considering other people or more importantly to the family, any future possible health issues from contracting Covid-19.

It simply amazes me.

If people could use some common sense it would help. Adults shouldn’t have to be spoon fed. There are 4 or 5 bars in Ottawa that have had to close down for a several days because two guys went bar hopping while waiting for their test results.

that is your privilege speaking

for a lot of parents the choice is send them to school or starve
but if you do have the means and are still sending our kids to school I would go with the stupid theory

How do you figure this when the school is providing food for pickup for parents that want to leave their kids remote learning but need food. They are also giving out bag of food to those that need more than just food for their kids every Tuesday and Thursday.

Grab-and-go meal distribution continues on Tuesdays and Thursdays at more than 170 school campuses in Palm Beach County. Distribution times vary by location and are subject to change, so please be sure to check PalmBeachSchools.org/schoolmeals for the latest locations and times.

Meals are free for anyone 18 years old and younger (22 and younger for ESE). You do not need to visit your child’s school for food distribution and may visit any location of your choice.

Parents or children need to bring one of the following forms of identification to receive meals at the food distribution sites: student ID badge, student barcode letter (Found in your child’s student portal), passport, birth certificate, or library card. An adult picking up the meals can also bring a picture that has themselves and the children for whom they are picking up food, in the photo.

A facial covering or mask is also required for meal pickup.
Feeding South Florida will distribute free food at select schools on Tuesday and Thursday. Click here to view a list of locations.

To limit person-to-person contact, please remember to adhere to social distancing. Those driving to one of the feeding sites are asked to open the trunk of their car or leave a seat open where staff can place the food. People walking up to a site should remember to maintain a distance of at least six feet. These measures are taken very seriously and are intended to keep everyone safe.

The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has provided a waiver to allow parents/guardians to pick up meals without the child being present. The parent needs to provide confirmation of the number of children for whom they are picking up meals, by one of the following methods: student ID, student passport, student library card, student birth certificate, or a photo of the adult with the students for whom they are picking up meals.

The parent will show the identification to staff providing the meals, and meals will be provided for the number of children identified. Meals are not allowed to be picked up in bulk for multiple families. The parent or guardian must be present to receive the meals.

Meals provided may vary by location and may contain allergens. Adults picking up the food are asked to be vigilant and ensure they do not take food if allergies may be a concern. Food should be refrigerated or discarded if not consumed upon receipt.

Now sending them in because they can't afford child care I do understand but those that send them in when they really do not need to? Stupid. The less that are in brick and mortar right now the better.
