OT: Coronavirus Resources - and other things to not worry about

The stimulus had money for childcare. Unfortunately it ran out and needs to be replenished (this is not an invitation to go all zeke on the matter).

You think headlines like "most cases ever!" are helpful? How about some reasonable interpretations. Let's see % rates...where is the trends...what neighborhoods are at risk. Nope, too much to ask from our noble press. The click bait headline grabbing stuff is tiresome and people get desensitized to it. It's counter productive. Tomorrow's headline will be the same "MOST CASES EVER!". And the next day as well. I swear the job of a journalist relies on cut and paste too much.

Somehow you think I am against testing...not sure how that is even remotely close to my comment.

Yes, food for the entire family. Bags of it every Tuesday and Thursday. There was actually a scandal of sorts of people that did not need it going to get free food, literally showing up in Mercedes and BMW's to get free food. Welcome to America. I know this because my wife volunteers every Tuesday and Thursday to distribute.

Students that do not have a computer or internet are given a computer to borrow and internet is provided by the county.

Rent is another issue that the stimulus was helping with.

In this county they really got their crap together and only opened brick and mortar because they were ordered to by Death Santis. I will concede that this is a blue county.
 
not an easy choice for many parents

i know you are no longer talking politics but this is a government issue not a parent issue

- FUCKING SHUT SHIT DOWN SO COVID ISNT OUT OF CONTROL
- have a safety net for parents
- use community halls, arenas, schools, etc to allow for social distancing (daycare and school options)
- hire more teachers and daycare workers, etc

for myself it would be an easy choice to have the kid stay home (if he was old enough)
- i am able to work from home and my wife can set her own hours

That's pretty cool, actually. Nice to see all the other steps taken too to help out. Gives me some hope for the world.

Agreed for sure that the only people who should be sending kids in to school or daycare are those who have literally no other option. Or perhaps hermits as well - I have some friends who more or less avoid any human contact with anyone outside their family, so I don't have much of a problem with sending their kids off. But yeah, for the rest, especially if a parent is going into an office or doing anything more than grocery shopping, no way should their kids be back in school.

In the absense of logical governance you have to do what you can. Beating your chest rarely works. November 3? That works.

Kids in canada (ontario) are/were provided a device to do work on at home if they needed.
 
Amazing how slow the Western World has been to react. We just suck balls at any sort of innovation or adaptation. The best places I've been to around here have been Asian Grocery Stores. H-Mart has a real cool Temperature checking setup on entry.
