OT: Movies/TV Shows

Watched about half of this last night, will finish it tonight.

Saw it sometime before but only remember things when they happen so it's almost like watching it for the first time.

Had a similar experience when I rewatched it, In fact I think it was one of those instances of being a good half hour in before realizing I had watched it before.

Solid genre flick tho, and if memory serves Spike Lee directed?

They would not have been "erased", but the tape would have been rerecorded with new shows. With live television there was no expectation of being able to view it again, it was a part of the performance aspect and a reason to tune in.

Also, video tape was expensive so it was common practice to reuse it over and over.
Which is why when you see an old hockey game from HNIC on YouTube, it's in black and white even though it was broadcast in color. CBC didn't use color videotape until the mid 70's.

I never know the audience for these films when the sequel is so long after the last one. Gremlins 2 was great, but bombed in 1989.
Hollywood is morally, ethically and creatively bankrupt. All the studios are owned by hedge fund managers who only care about ROE. Movies and TV aren't about art, they're about commerce, and like every other industry, it's a race to the bottom. AI is slowly but surely putting people in the industry out of work. A movie about AI generated gremlins is cheaper than a movie about something requiring actual people with box office appeal.

It's a shame the direction movies are going. Now because of who owns studios you'll never see another era like say the 70's. Very little creative freedom.

These are the only Gremlins I'm interested in.
