OT: NFL thread

The point of investing so many picks on your OL (like the Cowboys have done) is to allow your RB and QB to shine. Not sure the point of this argument. Yep Zeke is benefitting from strong OL....that's his job and he's doing it very well and opposing teams are having nightmares trying to scheme against it....which makes Dak's job way easier.

BTW, the Dolphins have quietly won 5 in a row. They also invested their future in a stout OL.

The beauty of Dallas is you have a nice 4 year run before you have to pay this great rookie duo. Just like Seattle had RW and a bunch of great cheap players .

With drafts producing immediate results and depth galore in free agency they could be elite for years with sound roster management.

If Dak didnt have off field issues he might of been a low first rounder . My effen Rams give up the moon for George Michael`s brother and Fisher keeps a job :eek6:

Running backs are a dime a dozen. They're here today and gone later today. As soon as they get nicked up a little they start looking ordinary. Very few have long careers which is why you don't waste first round picks on them. And if your team relies too heavily on them you're going to get it in the azz at the most inopportune time.

And I read that Cowboys went Zeke because they thought he could help their D (by keeping them off the field) more than any defensive player available in the draft.

edit: here's the article. they got super lucky with Prescott because they tried very hard to move up to grab QBs Lynch and later Cook, before settling on their 3rd choice.

Oh we were fortunate to get him.

Trying to convince yourself or us?

Zeke is far from a dime a dozen back.

As soon as any player is deemed irrelevant or too expensive their cut , thats the nature of this sport and the reason why you can manage a roster. If they are freaks like AP or Zeke they arent a dime a dozen .Busts are everywhere in round 1 at every position from cant miss prospects to reaches based on athletic ability but no IQ .

Zeke has 1200 yards in 11 games.

He impacts every game.

A CB not named Deion Sanders doesn't impact every game.

BS.... A true franchise CB impacts every game by playing against the other team's best receiver. You don't have to have an interception to impact a game.

There are more franchise CBs than just Deion.

Two things I like about Zeke is his ability to learn fast. He fumbled twice during the opener and then used the "beeping football" at practice which omits beeping sounds depending on how the carrier is holding the football. I am not sure if he has fumbled since but he sure looks as dependable as anyone holding the ball now.

You also had some analysts say that Zeke needed to wait for his O-line to open holes instead of just going for it right from the get go and by around game 3 or 4 he was doing that in spades.

The one mistake I saw him make recently was stepping out of bounds late in a game where Dallas was basically trying to eat up the clock. He got a 1st down on a great run but knew immediately he did a no-no by not staying in play. Love it.

WTF ?

Do my Dolphins make the playoffs this year ?

Too good to be true....but that O'line sure gives the QB time to think....
