OT: NFL thread

That KC Denver OT played just after the Grey Cup really showed the differences between the two formats. I have to say that I much prefer the way the CFL does it. No game clock and if you score a TD you have to try a 2 point convert. The NFL puts time on the clock, gives teams 2 timeouts plus the 2 minute warning...all designed to give the coaches as much control as possible. Any system that over-emphasises coaching over having the players play with the inevitable unpredictable things taking place will never be as exciting to watch from a fan perspective. The more over-coached a game is, the more boring and predictable the outcome is.

CFL just copied US college with the difference being in US college, you only have to go for 2 points starting in the third OT.

Calgary had a terrible series. When you know you have to score a TD, you don't throw a 45 yard pass to start the series.

Well their head coach is a former quarterback so I guess his preferred option was a quick strike. His impatience cost him.

The mistake was Calgary not giving the ball to their 260 pound running back @ the two yard line in regulation, similar to the Seahawks not giving the ball to Lynch in the Super bowl. The linebackers in the CFL barely weight 200 pounds, give to the guy who needs a whole defense to stop him.

Maybe but the CFL is not a running league so I was not surprised. Also if he got to the one and didn't get in, the FG angle would have been even worse. The QB gets in if he didn't trip over his own feet.

Calgary had probably their worst game the whole year.

The most baffling decision they made was their 2nd & goal call at the end of the game. They used the exact same play as they did earlier in the game. First time it worked, second time Ottawa saw it coming and they were stopped. How you don't do a regular QB sneak or let Messam run the ball, I'll never know.

They're an easy team to hate... until you remember that the Edmonton Eskimos still exist.

And the Argos, of course, simply because of the city they play for.

Be Levi Mitchell did himself no favors in that game. Jesus, did he ever come off as an immature brat. It's everyone's fault except his. It's not his fault his threw an interception, it's the receiver that wasn't at the right spot. Obviously.
